I moved in with my mother to care for her. She is a heavy smoker and the smoke was getting hard to handle, especially now that the house is closed up and the furnace is on. The smoke was being pulled from her bedroom and distributed throughout the house. I was getting headaches and my eyes were irritated. I put these in each of the hot air registers. While it hasn't been able to remove all the smoke, it sure has improved things allot. I would like to see some that is large enough to cover the opening in the cold air returns.

I have only wall vents and thought this filter would work either way. In fact, I think the write up said it fit most vent openings. I had to destroy the product to get it to work any of my vents. The photo shows a floor install but the write up was a bit misleading. Too much money for a limited use.

I rely on these filters every year when we go to turn our furnace on for the first few times. Living in an older home with an unfinished basement, these filters save us from the dust and mustiness that builds up over the warmer months with no need for heat. I don't think they need to be changed every 4 months (quite expensive for that), but I believe they really are beneficially if you suffer from allergies due to dust and mold.

Work good when you finally get done engineering them to fit the various sized vents in my house. Seems to be less allergens in the air now.

You will need 2 of these to fully accommodate a regular size (4x10) floor register. And given the price point (~$25) it's not even funny.

I have used these for a number of years now and while I agree with some of the others they don't fit perfectly on every vent they are very effective for their intended purpose. They should be sealed to the vents with a bit of duct tape in order to get an effective seal regardless. I find it comical sometimes when people use a product and simply because they have no idea on how it should work or be applied, condemn it.I originally bought them in hopes that they would reduce my dogs allergic reaction to whatever is in my heating ducts. It's a farmhouse built in the 19-teens, the ducts have been cleaned but the dog was still inching. When I installed them the immediate effect was far less dusting to do on the furniture and cabinets, the dogs allergies were reduced by quite a margin although not entirely.Overall I think they are a cost effective product and very passive, no noise from a filter fan, nothing to see either.I use the blue "allergen" filters and have replaced them yearly for 4 years now and intend on continuing to do so.FYI they have a website called ventmate.com and will respond to questions.

I purchased and received these vent filters earlier this week, and noticed an immediate difference! I have severe dust and mold allergies causing my eyes to burn, sinus pain, as well as difficulty breathing. It has been bad enough recently that even with taking allergy medicines, I was still having symptoms all the time. These filters helped a lot! I put them in my bedroom vents, and my allergies no longer bother me as badly as they did before. The air coming out of the vents even smells cleaner. The filters were very easy to install. I will definitely be purchasing these again!
