This should neutralize anything around a pH of 10 and return it to a neutral pH. If you already have a browning problem due to too high a pH you may be better off using something like Prochem's Yellow RX , ASIN # B00OV278JO which is designed for removing browning.

I extracted the product as the final step then raked it to fluff it up. Worked great at removing all the previous soap residue.
