It came with all parts, undamaged, and started right up, I like it!
I ordered the Generac GP8000E 8,000-Watt Gas-Powered Portable Generator - Electric Start, CO-Sense to replace a manual start generator that my 92 year old father in law wasn't able to start any more. It took about an hour to unbox and assemble using simple hand tools. I filled it with the supplied oil, put in a couple of gallons of rec fuel, pushed the button and it fired right up. I plugged a couple of fans into the 120v receptacles and ran it for 30 minutes with the light load on it. I'm having a manual transfer switch put in and will test under a real load after that.I'm impressed with the build quality of this generator compared to others in the same price range. The quality of the metal frame and handle is much better than most I've seen. The powder coat is nice. Switches and receptacles are laid out well. No trouble plugging in the 30A cord because the tire is in the way as they sometimes are. It has an hour meter to help keep up with maintenance. Big fuel tank with gauge on top, and large fill opening to make fueling easier. What sealed the deal for me on this generator is there are several Generac service centers within 10 miles of me. Most of the other generators I checked on had few to no service centers within 50 miles. I'm also told that there is no problem getting parts for repairs.I will update this review after I test it with a bigger load and get a few hours on it.

We Finally Got Our Generator!
The media could not be loaded. Â In notes going back several months I have recorded a 76861 and a 76864 generator. One was on Amazon and one was at a local store. I never was able to determine the difference. When my last call to Generac customer service said that my wait time would be in excess of two hours ... forget it. I'll just take my chances that the differences are subtle. The generator that I actually got was a 76764 and it has the CO sensor. Something I wasn't wild about. From the git-go I was considering a Harbor Frt and a Generac. The Harbor Frt was more bang for the buck but given my location I thought service, should it be needed, would be a problem. Generac advertised Made in America. That was really important to me. I guess their ads referred to the whole house generators as mine was made in Viet Nam. Wasn't happy about that.I had been watching this generator on Amazon for literally months. It was mostly in the $1100 to $1200 range. When it momentarily dropped to $850 I jumped on it.I was surprised to find that it came in a box instead of a pallet as I was expecting. And it all arrived in far better shape than I had a reasonable right to expect. Only a couple minor scars on the outside of the box.The generator came essentially assembled. Just put on the wheels and handle and you're pretty much good to go. They were thoughtful (?) enough to put the assembly instructions on the outside of the box. The drawing showed 4 identical bolts. But they're not. I defy anyone to get them exactly right the first time not knowing this. The drawing also shows 5 washers. I never did figure out where that fifth washer belonged. The wheels are not pneumatic and I can see a problem moving it farther than out of the garage. Especially over rough terrain. All said, I'm very happy with the purchase. Just hope I never have to call the factory for anything. The CO sensor does work but it's not as sensitive as I feared it might be. It's plenty noisy though.

Fantastic generator
Runs great. Easy to assemble. Mine done arrive with scrapes on the frame down to bare metal but the veneer made it right, provide a small refund which I felt was fair and put towards some paint. Generator runs great. This is my second one and both have been flawless. Built tough. Easy to start and move. Not too heavy at 200 ish pounds. It’s a little noisy but not worse than others. Great generator.

Failed 16-hours in. Warranty NIGHTMARE.
This model shook itself apart. Bolts literally shaking loose. Then something probably shook loose internally.Fine. A reputable company had a lemon model. Parts have a failure rate, I get that. This is what warranties are for. Wrong!!You may say “reviewer, there are Generac service centers all over and they’ll fix it!” Wrong!! Yes there is a pretty list of authorized service centers that make you think you’ll be helped. Wrong!! After making call after call, no one was actually willing to help with this model. I finally got told the secret by one shop “We have so much trouble getting paid by Generac that we won’t service them anymore unless we sold them.”That was my mistake buying from Generac.I reached out to Generac to let them know that no one would actually help. I got told “that’s their business decision of the service centers”. Fine blame everyone else who wised up and is unwilling to work with your awful company. You are legally obligated to help, where can I go? They widened the search result to find another 50 phone numbers to call out-of-state. No, they can’t tell you who actually is processing warranty claims. No they can’t call shops for you. I get it. I’ll just call the planet until I get lucky.Of course!!! I have infinite time for all this burden. Finally, someone pointed out that my state has a consumer protection law. It is illegal for Generac to sell these defective units and not correct it.Now tell me? How hard do want to fight a giant unhelpful corporation for $1,000 of defective product?? Do I actually waste more time to pull in a lawyer? Or do I just post this review everywhere I can daily for a decade?Help me review reader, please! Because Generac simply will not.

Easy to operate, started right up
Ran great out of the box. The AC/DC trickle charger is a nice touch.
