Shuttle Xpress Silver [Old Version]

I bought this for my Mother In Law to replace a dedicated Jog/Shuttle rig she had for editing videos. It was priced right and with USB easy to plug in. Windows 7 saw it and worked fine. Drivers supported my software Adobe Premier Elements 8, and others like Excel for panning & scrolling. What I like is the fine grain control of the knob, faster and slower just as you would expect it to work. And you can easily program it as well. I have tried other flashier knobs but they did not have the level of control this one has nor the software support. It also has enough footprint to stay put on my desktop. For video editing it will save your sanity and your hands/wrists.

5 programable buttons is all you really need for fast editing work, and the wheel helps you do precise work on your timeline. I believe this is a better value than its bigger brother becasue of its size and price.

This vendor provided me a Shuttle at a great price, and it arrived at lightning speed. The Xpress has more buttons than I really would want to try to memorize any time soon, and is a great help in editing video with Premiere. The more expensive Pro would only be worth the extra money, steeper learning curve and sacrifice of more desk space if one spent 90% or more of one's time just editing video, and engaged in the type of precise cuts where a jog-shuttle excels. My only cavil is that the driver could automatically apply the Shuttle's niftyness to more applications, like web browsing and... wait a minute- it DOES! I love this thing!

I've bought this item driven by 2 positive review. The item arrived unsealed and nowhere close to being new. It doesn't work in QuickTime, nor VLC player. It feels very cheap, especially the buttons. Returning it back to the seller.

I bought Logitech Trackman Marble Mouse a few weeks back and was dissatisfied with the lack of a scroll wheel. I bought the Shuttle Xpress primarily to function as a scroll wheel for typical use. I started using it to the left of my keyboard so I could use my right hand on the mouse. So far I couldn't be happier with it.For many applications I use it simply as a scroll wheel, much like a typical mouse has, with the Jog being line-by-line scroll and the shuttle being fast scroll. At first I was afraid that using two hands instead of one for simple navigation would pose a problem, but the opposite has turned out to be true. By binding several of the most common keyboard tasks to the shuttle Xpress, navigation is actually faster.The software is pretty robust. The shuttle dial has 7 increments in both directions. Each of these increments can be programmed much like a button. The Jog dial is essentially the same as a scroll wheel on a mouse. There are 5 buttons, each can be assigned as a modifier key (control, shift, etc.), a combination of keys, or a special function and this action can be repeated at specified intervals. This isn't as flexible as some macro key pads are, which often allow for timed key combinations, but it's plenty for typical applications.For specific applications the shuttle Xpress is extremely convenient. I do a lot of simple video editing and video analysis, and being able to efficiently navigate frame-by-frame, fast forward, and rewind is amazing. Having a jog & shuttle dial is a huge improvement over the mouse and keyboard setup I normally use. It is great for recreational playback of video as well. I haven't gotten the chance yet to test it in all of my computer tasks, but when I do I will update my review.I think you could make this device useful for nearly any task, the problem is that it requires some creativity on the part of the user to decide what the bindings should be. Basically, don't expect this to be a install-and-done sort of device, it will take some tweaking.

Muy simple de usar y programar, el panel de control del ShuttleXpress es sencillo pero detallado. hay programas para los que ya trae los atajos pero no los toma automáticamente, por ejemplo Adobe Audition tengo la versión CS6 y el preset es para CS5.5 y no lo reconocia, solo hay que cambiar el "Target application" buscando el ejecutable en "Archivos de programa" y listo.Físicamente tiene buenas dimensiones, se siente que está bien construido y tiene un buen peso para adherirse a la mesa sin deslizarse.Lo utilizo para Adobe Premiere, Audition, ProTools. En Windows 7.De maravillas

Ich benutze das Contour ShuttleXpress ausschließlich um meine Videos unter Linux mit Kdenlive zu bearbeiten. Für den Preis soll man keine zu hohe Qualitätsansprüche haben (ist eben nur Plastik und kein Metall), aber es erfüllt seinen Zweck. Ich benutze das Gerät regelmäßig seit ungefähr einem Jahr und es funktioniert bisher tadellos.

J'utilise le ShuttleExpress avec Magic Vidéo Deluxe. Un vrai bonheur.... La programmation des boutons est relativement simple... n'hésitez-pas à explorer toutes les possibilités de programmation du shuttle... il permet de se déplacer à n'importe quelle vitesse et dans n'importe quel sens sur la timeline... La souris reste utile mais toutes les opérations de couper / copier / coller peuvent se faire avec ce petit instrument dont je ne pourrai plus me passer !Un must have (mais comment ais-je pu m'en passer si longtemps ????)
