Vienna Terracotta Parson Dining Chair (Set of 2)

First, let me say that these chairs look great once they are put together. It's putting them together that is the hard part. For some reason I was under the impression that I would just have to put on the legs... wrong... the seat must be attached to the back of the chair and then the front two legs should be attached. Sounds easy enough and it would be if 1) the parts were labeled correctly, 2) the instructions were more than the following: Step 1: Assemble chair, Step 2: Assembly completed! Never fear though, it is possible to put them together and fairly straightforward as to "what goes where." The trouble I ran into was that it was very hard to get the screws in place with just the allen wrench provided. So, I enlisted someone with more tools to help and the first chair we assembled quickly. The second chair (pictured) did not have holes where the screws were supposed to go on the back corner of the seat. We had to drill the holes in the chair (unless I wanted to send it back) in order to put the chair together. Sloppy manufacturing and I can imagine it would have been more of a hassle to contact the "company" and get a new chair. Here is my advice: If you don't mind the hassle of putting the chair together, then order them. They are good chairs for the price. But, if you don't want the headache of potentially having to drill holes, grab additional tools, etc. then pay a bit more for ones already assembled... I saw these same chairs at Steinmart...

The chairs are nice looking for the price, not great but nice, and relatively easy to put together, but, and this is a big but, I had to cut off a hex key to fit in my drill to simplify the task of putting them together as using a hand key would have tore up my hands and taken all night. These chairs are not deep, they're petite chairs and work well in smaller spaces and would serve best people with shorter legs. At $130 per set they were a fair deal but I see that they've risen the price to nearly $180 --far too much considering you can get nicer, deeper chairs for the same or slightly more elsewhere. Yes, they do have a synthetic, gas-like odor, but for the most part the smell has dissipated after a couple of months. I was thinking about adding two extra chairs to the ones I purchased (in for a penny...) but since they've risen the price I'll most certainly pass.

These chairs arrive in a box with "some assembly required." The thing is, the holes for the bolts are not well lined up, and there seem to be more holes than bolts provided, making it difficult to know which ones to use. The minimal word-mostly pictures style directions are not especially helpful. Also note, the company is American but the chairs are made in China. It also took some tinkering to level the chairs out so they didn't wobble. That said, when we called the company about a stripped bolt, they sent us a whole new set. Also, when we finally got the chairs together, they do look as good as the picture. If you're someone who can afford better but likes a bargain, then these chairs are probably not for you. On the other hand, if you're on a tight budget and you're handy with tools, these are a good deal.

best price we could find for the parson's chairs. unfortunately one of the legs was damaged during shipment and we contacted the company several times. They finally told us they would send a replacement leg and that never came...sent more emails and still no resolution. We ended having to drill and wood glue the screwed areas on the leg. The fabric was of nice quality and the legs are a nice dark rich color.

I love the look, the feel, and color... But they are NOT comfortable, very stiff! Also, one of my legs was missing the bottom piece so I have to replace it. And the other chair was uneven when put together.. By my father who is a carpenter. So I know it was done right! Either way... I'll keep them, but not order anymore.

My set of chairs were sent in the wrong color from what I ordered!It was an error on their part but I hope they will not give me a problem with the return. I submitted the reason for return with Amazon and they will let the vendor know and I have to wait for approval. Chairs seem nice although I didn't take them out of box when I saw the color. Just a hassle because of the size of the box.I also do not want to pay a return shipping fee since it was not my error.

I am not really liking this product, it was bulky, requiring assembly, and within days of receiving it my one year old had made a mess of the fabric as it was not stain resistive.

I purchased a pair of these red chairs, along w/ the gold, light green, and chocolate ones (swapped out the camel colored ones). The set looks wonderful! I can't wait to host the next dining party! These red ones assembled w/o much difficulty, but it does help to have handy some pliers for the extra staples used, a hammer to tap in the wooden dowels, and a knife to ensure the cloth stays away from the screw holes plus to clean the splinters away from the holes in the wood. So happy w/ the completed set!
