As a current senior miniature dachshund owner and someone who is soon to own a miniature dachshund puppy, this book has been a great, informative read for both of our dogs. Our current senior dog has a lot of health problems and this has been helpful regarding diet, care, and exercise. It has also been very helpful for my research for bringing our new puppy home in a couple of weeks. The author's recommendations for introductions, food, toys, and even collars are all ideas I wouldn't have thought of- and I have owned 2 miniature dachshunds already! The author is very knowledgeable on the topic and taps into the expertise of many dachshund breeders. You can tell that the people that have contributed to this book really care about the breed and doing what's best for them. I would highly recommend this book.

I guess I was hoping for more tips on how to train these stubborn dogs. It was easy to read and a I will keep for the next time we purchase a puppy. I am still holding out for the perfect how to train these cuties. My three have trained me, but who knows in time I may win a few battles. I am not counting on it.

We have a new dachshund puppy, the fourth dachshund we have had, as well as a senior. I found this book very enlightening for both ends of the spectrum. I think it would be especially helpful to anyone trying to decide if this is the breed for them. It is also very helpful that there are opinions from a variety of professional sources and not just one author. I believe this book is well-written and it is easy to understand the information. Dachshunds make wonderful pets but you must understand them and how they think!

This was a great book, full of information and many knowledgeable opinions. This book provides some history, answers questions and helps guide new dachshund owners in developing more questions about this endearing breed. The photos led to a 4-star rating. They were all black & white and somewhat disappointing in the lack of detail when trying to understand various points such as color and conformity.

I think this book is wonderful for someone interested in buying a dachshund - or for that matter - any dog. The author asked questions of dachshund breeders and included answers in the book. I plan on ordering copies to hand out to my new puppy owners.

I was so impressed with the vast amount of topics found in this book. From the history of this breed to every aspect of caring for a dachshund, this book thoroughly covers each topic in great detail. Owners new to this amazing breed, people who are considering buying a dachshund and long established dachshund enthusiasts, all will find a vast amount of helpful, information written in an enjoyable, easy to understand way. Valuable information for any Dachshund owner. My Dachshund was about two years old when I adopted her from a rescue, so the info on choosing a puppy was not useful for me, but it would be for those still looking. I really appreciated the variety of entries from experts.

We are about to get our third dachshund so I thought we were pretty experienced with the breed but this book contained lots of info we needed to have reinforced.

Excellent book, just what I needed before my puppy comes to us. Clearly set out and very comprehensive.In particular, I liked the different breeders views on various topics. Practical and written in accessible and easy to read style. Answered many questions I had and more I hadn t thought of.

We're planning to get a puppy next year once we've moved house so decided to get some more information to prepare us.This book is brilliant. It's so well written and laid out. We've read it cover to cover and I'm sure it will be a great reference book when we have our puppy. We now feel very prepared, having learned all sorts of things we'd never even thought about.

This was a gift for my Mum and Dad, who last year got a beautiful Dachshund to add to our family. I have been told the book gets used a LOT and many of the training, feeding and grooming tips have already proved very useful.

Such a good book very informative as we hadn't had a sausage dog before. Very true as the book said they are a stubbon breed but we wouldn't be without him now. This book explains everything about the breed. We would have been lost without this book as it taught us so much. Highly recommend this book.
