Seems like a solid unit, but you will probably need to supply your own M to M VGA cable.
I was hesitant to buy this because of no reviews. I have not had it long, but it has worked fine for me so far. I orderd the black one. The unit has a solid plastic cover, but it has a solid feel to it. I did an external inspection and the cable connections look solid. The unit is fairly light. It did not rattle when I shook it in my hand. I have pulled both video and sound off a Raspberry Pi Model B. The picture and sound output are steady. The VGA port is female. Most monitors also have female ports so you cannot directly connect the adapter to a VGA monitor. A standard VGA male to male cable is needed to connect the converter to the monitor. This is the same type of cable used to connect a PC to a monitor so it should be easy to find one; I have several laying around in junk drawers and you probably do too. I will repost if I have any problems but I don't expect any.

Worked well for the first 2 months; then it didn't.
Summary: some of the shoddiest workmanship I've bought in recent memory. Avoid it if you want a product that works.I bought this thing about 1/2 a year ago and initially it worked well. The holes to hold the VGA wire in place didn't fit any of my cables, but I just tied it together with some twist ties and it was ok.Then, about 2 months into it I started having problems, where after the computer turned off the monitor to save power (due to inactivity), the screen wouldn't come back on, until I turned the monitor off and on. I tried everything, but nothing helped. But fine, turning a monitor off and on isn't a big deal, I could live with that.About 3 months after that, the sound just stopped working. And now most recently, the video stopped working with all but one end of one VGA cable that I own.

Does not work without a Analog/Digital Converter Box.
you will need a analog/digital converter box. This product does NOT convert analog (which is what comes from computer) into digital format (which is what the HDMI part is for on the TV). Personally, I would not waste your money, Walmart sells a Analog/Digital converter box for $40 and has the necessary cords to attach to your computer and the HDMI port on your TV.Do research on Internet.

Read the small print like I
This does NOT upgrade a VGA to HDMI. All it does is downgrade an HDMI signal to a VGA. Exact opposite of what I was looking for. Read the small print like I didn't

Worked, tho some sync issues
Worked ok for connecting Chromecast HDMI to a VGA input on my projector and audio input on my receiver. The projector was a little cranky with finding the correct signal, apparently due to not always identifying the resolution but I did get it to work. The audio was fine and in sync. Eventually I gave up on it though, because the Chromecast itself was just too much hassle compared with simply using Firefox on a computer feeding projector VGA and receiver audio. I've moved the Chromecast to the guest bedroom where it complements the OTA HDTV channels there, because that TV's not hooked to a computer. I'll keep this handy adapter in case I ever want to use the Chromecast on the living room projector's great 93" picture.

Affordable Converter
I was concerned about ordering this product as I had read some reviews that were not that great. Considering the price, I decided to purchase it anyway. The item arrived as described. I plugged the HDMI into my Xbox360 and the VGA into a 5 year old flat screen, 22" monitor. I plugged a pair of amplified speakers into the 3.5 audio plug on the back of the VGA dongle. Everything worked. The video was clear and the audio was clean. The only thing that I had any trouble with was plugging in the audio - and it was not much of a problem at all. The plug went in, but it did not go completely in at the end. With a little more pressure it went in just fine. I assume that it was due to a variance in manufacturing. With that said, everything worked as had hoped. For the price, I couldn't beat this deal.

good product
This adapter works great. I use it to connect my xbox one to my pc monitor since my pc is hooked up to my tv and have been using it for several months now with no issues. Over all it works very good.

Video cuts in and out. Not reliable. Not Working
I bought this product about a month ago using it and the video would come in and out at most of the times. This item is very fragile so plz note that when you are considering buying it. After it stopped working i got mad and through it to the wall with it breaking apart. I saw some of the wire's connected with a glue gun really glue a glue gun. The saying you get what you pay for yea this is what you get. Now i am in the process of buying a new one to use which the one i will be buying is a belkin which is more expensive but reading the reviews there everyone is saying it is durable and it has good reviews
