Do these fit 2wd (5 lug) or 4wd (6lug)

I bought them for my 4x4 6 lug.

This not make any sense. It says fitment is from 2005-2017 but criteria says it'll fit my 2019 tacoma. So will it or will it not?

Yes, Bosch BS871 Blue Drum Brake Shoes are compatible with select Toyota Tacomas thru the 2020 model year. Use the fit checker on the product detail page to confirm fitment details for your specific vehicle.

What is friction material?

all break pads and shoes use friction to stop the vehicle. The best friction materials create friction without a lot of heat build up so my guess at answering your question ( What is friction material?) : the materials used to make the surface of the brake shoe that come in contact with the brake disc or drum
