Nippon Kodo Kayuragi Agilawood

I recently got into incense when I learned that it doesn't actually give me a headache when you buy some quality sticks that aren't just made for potheads to cover up their weed smell. Immediately, I wanted to try this one because I was looking for a good oud smell that I could burn without using cologne, and it delivers. It's actually very strong, so I'd say to exercise a little mindfulness before you get into this one. The sticks are pretty short compared to others, so they don't last as long, but they are STRONG. You will know that this incense is being burned right away. You get plenty of sticks in a box and a little square holder if you don't have a holder at home already, so it's good value, but probably not the best fit for beginners or sensitive noses. I got headaches burning these at first, but that subsided after about a week of regular use. Overall, you can't go wrong here if you're ready for a strong oud incense.

This Nippon Kodo Aloeswood(Agarwood) incense is hands down one of the best smells I have smelled from incense and one of the best smells I smelled in life in general. The smell out of the box, before being out, is heavenly. It smells sweet, wooden. As with most smells it is difficult to describe what a smell is like. If I were to compare it to the smell of authentic sandalwood, this Alowswood incense is less sharp, and much more mellow. No smell of floral soap. When lit the smell retains the fragrance before lighting. Very mellow and pure. Not mellow like vanilla. Maybe it reminds of cinnamon pastry at the bakery, but when you smell it you know it is a kind of wood being burned. This smell immediately makes you feel some sort of kindness, and comfort. I would even describe it as a smell of some food cooking at home over open fire during holidays. If your exposure to incense so far is limited to the cheaper “blue box” Indian incense then you don’t yet know how good an incense can smell. You have to try this Nippon Kodo Aloeswood. It has to be mentioned that this series of Nippon Kodo incenses in striped boxes are also significantly better than the cheaper line of incense from this same company. So if you tried their smaller Morning Star boxes and felt like the smell wasn’t pure enough, with this series I definitely smell much less filler and much more aromatic substance.

Smell really good

I saw these at Epcot and wanted to try them. They smell great but has a very short burn time. They are easy to clean. I use it in the bedroom with my closet doors open so my clothes are always smelling beautiful but not over powering. Will definitely purchase again.

It’s expensive but worth every penny if you enjoy fine incense! There is no bamboo core in the middle. Treat yourself and try it!

It is very thin and burns in no time (about 15 mins). Up close, it does not smell too nice but at a distance, it is very pleasant and sweet. The whole room smells like spring flowers after burning just one.

This is the best scent out of the lineup.
