Photive Hybrid iPhone 5 Bumper Case - Designed for The New iPhone 5 - Black

Absolutely love this. I did get the updated one with the new cutout at the bottom and my lightning plug snaps right in place with no issues. The fit is beautiful!I love that the case does not add a lot of bulk to the phone. I looked at some of the other cases, but this being as small as it is just about any case I looked at added bulk/thickness to the phone and defeats the purpose of having such a thin phone. I have a clear protector from Ghost Armor, but even that doesn't fully cover the sides (it's perfect for the front and back). This being just the outside does what the Ghost Armor doesn't. Now I have a phone that is 100% protected without the added bulk.I have small hands and I was not able to use the phone one handed because the sides were a bit slippery. I had to keep my pinky at the bottom of the phone it hold it and then my fingers wouldn't reach to the top of the screen. This has just enough rubber edging around the shiny part that allows my hand to grip it better so it doesn't slide out of my hand as I reach for those higher icons.The buttons around the phone connect well with the case and don't add a lot of extra force to press.Overall, I am as giddy as a school girl over this - price, fit, functionality! Just wonderful!

I really liked the fact that this bumper case was Sooo thin and lightweight, that it was as if I didnt even have anything on my phone at all... however, by the time my 2-year contract was up and bought a new phone, this was starting to come apart so bad to the point I had to use super-glue and special tape just to hold it together and to Stay On My Phone for its final few weeks & days it had left before activating my new phone!4 out of 5 stars mainly for its sleek and nearly invisible look & feel & weight, and for protecting my phone from a handful of drops over the course of almost 2 years.... but lacking 1 star because of its quality & ability to barely last 16-18 months., and because of the fact that I had to buy 2 protective films.. one to protect the screen, and the other to protect the back (battery) from scratches and damages, since this is really only covers the outside corners of your phone and is just thick enough to prevent the screen or back from touching the flat surface.

For the price and the dearth of selection out there right now, this product is an ok temporary fix until the brand and type of case you want for your iPhone 5 comes in. I bought this with the intention of using it until my favorite Belkin case is available and / or my must have Mophie Juice Plus comes in stock. So i ordered this first day of 5 release, september 21st. To the credit of Butterfly, it was shipped very next day, saturday, by USPS one day and it arrived in the US Mail on Monday, 24th. That is great customer service and they made an effort to get this out there right away. Give them credit for that.Now, about the product. I disagree with other reviewers, and it makes me wonder about the validity of the review. This product is NOT the same material as an Apple store bumper. It is lower quality, hi glass plastic. Apple has silicone properties and will last longer and is more durable. Bottom line, this is inexpensive plastic, but not so inexpensive that is cheap and i dont see it breaking. But i guarantee you, it is NOT Apple quality.On Saturday I went to a Verizon store, and ATT store, and Target. Well, everyone had cases, not a huge selection, but everyone had cases. so even though i ordered this bumper for ten bucks, i bought a 30 case at Verizon that I will use until my favorite and must have Mophie Juice pack comes in. I feel it will probably be a month, maybe two until it arrives in the color I want (red). The verizon case will be fine until then, it is front and back and has a viewing kickstand.Bottom line - this is not a bad product, it is just a VERY temporary fix to prevent some minor jarring. Remember it is NOT a case, simple a bumper. It will not prevent scratches to the back cover, which is no longer glass and is now Apple satiny aluminum, which will scratch more easily. It is not overpriced, and is not terribly underpriced either. It is what it is. Very simple, minor protection but fairly durable piece of plastic that will suffice for very light users until your fave case comes in.

I am a bit disappointed with this product.While I am sure it will serve its main intended purpose--to cushion my iPhone to some degree in case I drop it--it's not well made. The rubber on the front and the back of these bumpers has a lower coefficient of friction that that used by Apple on their bumpers for the previous iPhones, which means that it is more prone to slippage when you lay your iPhone down on a slanted surface, or try to balance it on your leg while sitting. Furthermore, the rubber is harder making it more difficult to insert and remove your phone.The buttons aren't metal, just protrusions from the molded plastic, and there is certainly no pass through for them. When depressing them, you are relying on temporarily deforming the case in that spot and pushing the button underneath through those means, which takes a little bit more effort.The cut out where the lightning connector is inserted doesn't have quite enough clearance for the connector to insert fully. While it does go in and make contact, any lateral pressure or wiggling of the cord can cause it lose contact. If you are a night-stand-iPhone-charger like me, checking the time on your charging iPhone before going to bed can result in an uncharged phone in the morning unless you ensure it is still charging when you put it down. I found that trimming the opening for the power cord with nail clippers works well, and resolved my issues with this.So, if you're looking for the basic functionality for a good price, this will probably do the job for you. If you're looking for a high quality accessory, I would recommend that you look elsewhere.
