The product itself is amazing. I saw these on Amazon selling for about $40 and so I quickly put in an order for two. There really is no question about the quality of these reels. Penn is such a trusted brand, known in the past for putting out USA made models that last a lifetime and catching monsters. Modern reels have changed things, mostly due to the materials they're made of. Penn had the Spinfisher model, which remained a champ, even through modern changes, though the Spinfisher has always been a slightly pricier reel. The Battle series brought a lot of the strong features of the Spinfisher and offered them at a lower price. I have them in various sizes and they're all still going strong where other modern reels have failed. If you can get these at a cheap price then don't hesitate. If the price is high, then go for the Battle III or Daiwa BG.

I have been using Penn Battle reels from a boat for 7+ years now. They work great, don't really break and are easy to grease. the 4K is the perfect size for surf, inshore or near shore fishing. For the price, the quality can't be beat.
