Real life saver!
This belt has played an integral part in myself no longer having to mow the lawn. With this the self propel feature works flawlessly and now the teenager in the house can mow so I don’t have to. Possibly the best purchase I have ever made!

Eh... technically it works, but...
I ordered this replacement part for my Troy Bilt walk-behind mower, and yes technically it fits... but its so loose that it doesn't 'propel' very effectively and because of the poor fit, should you run over even a small branch, it can easily dislodge the belt such that it gets chopped up by the blade. I ordered 2, which was smart b/c the mower destroyed one belt on a SMALL flimsy branch in the 1st 20 min of mowing. Its strange b/c I got the part number for this from the packaging from my previous belt (purchased from Home Depo) which worked fine, and thus why I re-ordered from MTD. In addition, these guys are REAL slow shippers - took about 9 business days to get to me. yeah. thanks. by the time I get it I need a hay baler.

Got the job done
I ordered this to replace the belt on a MTD self-propelled lawnmower I inherited from my mother in law. The previous belt must have fallen off in use at some point because it was totally gone. Because of this, I couldn't compare the new belt to the old belt with respect to length. I can say that on the lawnmower I was putting it on, it was a tight fit. My particular lawn mower has a spring that pushes on the deck of the mower to tension the spring. The only way I could see of installing this belt was to fully compress that spring with a C-clamp, but even doing this I had to fight with it and use a screwdriver to pry the belt on to the pulley. The belt did fit and seemed to be the proper length after letting the tension spring tension it. It works great and hasn't slipped at all in the month or so we've had it on. We're probably put a good 2-4 hours on the belt with no issues. Note that this was a genuine MTD part as I received it.

Will not fit LA100 John Deere
The product appears to be made well = 5 stars, but will not fit my mower = 1 star.

Wrong belt
MTD update their old belt 754-0637A to this belt here. i ordered this belt here, paid for it. Recieved it a couple of days latter, the product carton said 954-0637A but when i looked on the belt itself, it was still had the manufacturer stamp 754-0637A. I knew the belt would fit, and i had to mow my grass so i used it, I shouldn't have cause it fell off and was chewed up after 2hours (had to pushmow the rest, albeit only 2 minutes.)The reason why MTD upgraded to the 9 series belt is because the 7 series was known to always fall off and get chewed up. Now i have no evidence to show this company selling this belt is falsley advertising their wares. DO NOT BUY THIS BELT FROM THIS ONLINE, GOTO YOUR PARTS STORE TO GET THE RIGHT ONE. I know in some of the U.S. northern states, Menards sells the correct one, or buy straight from manufacturer.

Shipping cost / Sent wrong belt
A previous reviewer said $7.50 was outrageous. I might agree...I wonder if it has anything to do with the product saying that the shipping weight is 12 lbs.It would have to be made from lead to weigh that much.It is $18.50 at a local dealer. Lots of places online will beat any local dealer on price.. but to make the difference they jack up the shipping...BEWARE.. on all internet sales.-------I ordered this belt, after my above review. Although had I known they were going to send me the wrong belt.. I wouldn't have ordered it.They sent me a the older 754-0637a belt in a cardboard container that said it was a 954-0637a !!!I have yet to figure out the difference between them.. but with any searching, you will find this belt falling off the mower is a common problem..and they don't make new part #'s for the same belt.. so something must have change. If this belt comes off and gets eaten by the blade again.. I will probably come back and rate it even lower. (as I believe the 954 belt will solve my problem.)

less expensive than most places and faster delivery
Drive belt for a self propelling lawn mower, MTD PRO. It fit and my lawnmower pulls forward again. Can't ask much more than that
