Let the wisdom and enchantment of timeless fables and fiction help you achieve your creative goals! From celebrated mixed-media artist and author of Create Your Life Book Tamara Laporte, Ever After is a rich collection of step-by-step mixed-media art lessons inspired by fairy tales, folk tales, and classic fiction. Based on one of Tamara’s popular series of online classes, Ever After addresses the most frequently asked question she receives from her students: “How do I develop my own creative style?” In addition to the beautiful art lessons created especially for this book by Tamara and eight other noted mixed-media artists, each chapter offers creative exercises that invite readers to explore stories, their symbolism, and a specific aspect of style development as they work toward and ultimately achieve their artistic goals. The Story of You. Explore the experiences, feelings, and ideas that stir your passion, and how to adapt and change motifs and other visual elements to make them your own. Inspiration: How to Find It, How to Use It. Examine how to stay open to inspiration, incorporate it into your art practice, and integrate it into your artwork. Comfort Zones & Productivity. Learn strategies for working through your fear and dedicating time to your artmaking. Dealing with Challenges & Deepening Your Voice. Find guidance for starting a mindfulness practice to help you deal with harsh feedback, and for allowing yourself the joy of continually evolving your story, your message, and your style. Ever After will teach you to tell your own unique stories through art making so that your wish—to become the artist you’ve always wanted to be—is sure to come true! Guest Teachers Includes lessons and tips from these renowned mixed-media artists: Kara Bullock Lucy Chen Danita Andrea Gomoll Annie Hamman Mariëlle Stolp Effy Wild Micki Wilde Fairy Tales, Fables & Fiction Featured stories include: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Bambi Beauty & the Beast Goldilocks & the Three Bears Mulan Peter Pan Sleeping Beauty The Little Mermaid Review: Lush and Lovely - What a wonderful treat to go to my mailbox and find the new release of Tamara Laporte's book "Ever After: Create Fairy Tale-Inspired Mixed Media Art Projects to Develop Your Personal Artistic Style"! This book is as lovely as Tam's generous soul. It is filled with bright, inspirational works by mixed-media artists inspired by fairy tales. Each entry includes a brief summary of the fairy tale, either Tam or a guest artist's discussion of the tales, frequently leading to a more modern day, adult understanding of children's tales. The book is lavishly illustrated and the instructions are fairly detailed. The projects are on a more intermediate level. A lot of instruction is provided, but if you are a beginner you may find several of the lessons a bit more challenging. A variety of artists are featured, including Micki Wilde, Andrea Gomell, Lucy Chen and several others. The idea here is to experiment with different artist's styles in order to develop a style of your own. Although Tam has always generously shared her platform with guest artists, I must say that in this book her work also shines brightly! It is a lush and lovely book, delightful to read and beautiful to behold. Tam puts her heart and soul into all that she does and this book is no exception. Well done! Review: Wonderful art projects! - Beautiful book n projects! Love Tamara Laporte!

Wow! This book is spectacular, inspiring and detailed!
I was absolutely thrilled with my book arrived. It is absolutely spectacular! Each page is filled with luscious details and amazing art! I really enjoyed reading about the different processes and techniques and I’m super excited to get started! This book is inspirational, detailed and absolutely inspiring! Before I even began reading it I just flipped through the pages and looked at all the wonderful artwork! I also loved that other artists were included for specific lessons. Their work is as stunning as Tam’s and complement the book so well. I highly recommend this gorgeous book for anyone who wants to learn about the way she creates her art and inspires you not only visually but also mentally by her written words.

So good
The book is broken up into 4 sections. It includes lessons from both the author Tamara Laport and guest teachers. There are many tips for making the lessons your own but it is also suggested that you start by doing the lessons as they are presented. Each lesson briefly describes the fairy tale at hand as well as what the artist wanted to bring to the story. If you follow Tamara Laport (aka WIllowing) online or read her previous book then you probably already have an idea of what to expect here. The cover is a good representation of her art style. Her lessons (in book format anyway - never taken one of her classes) focus on self care and putting yourself in your art. While I did get an ARC for review, I had already pre-ordered it before being offered it to review, and choose to keep my pre-order as ARCs expire and I definitely want to keep this one. Section 1 is “The Story of You” which starts with a section on your creative goals and tips for finding your personal style. That is followed by Little Red Riding Hood. Then advice for how to make the lessons your own. Next up is Bambi by guest teacher Micki Wilde. Then Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. Alice is followed by Rapunzel presented by guest teacher Annie Hamman. Section 2 is “Inspiration: How to Find it, How to Use it” which starts with the creative goal of staying open. Then comes Goose Girl. Lesson 6 is The Little Mermaid by guest teacher Andrea Gomoll. Lesson 7 is Sleeping Beauty (the book’s cover). Lesson 8 is The Little Match Girl by guest teacher Kara Bullock. Section 3 is “Comfort zones & Productivity” which is all about going out of your comfort zone to find what you can really do. Lesson 9 is The Snow Queen. Lesson 10 Mulan is by guest teacher Lucy Chen. Lesson 11 is Goldilocks & the Three Bears. Lesson 12 is Blodeuwedd by guest teacher Effy Wild. Section 4 is “Dealing with Challenges & Deepening Your Voice”. Lesson 13 is Peter Pan. Lesson 14 is Beauty & the Beast by guest teacher Mariëlle Stolp. Lesson 15 is The Frog Prince by Danita Art. Lesson 16 is The Reluctant Dragon.
