Firefly Planisphere: Latitude 42 Degrees North

I’ve looked for a good planisphere and I think this one is definitely the right choice. It is a little on the larger size but that makes it easier to read in the dark as the character size is readable. Also, it has a small blue cross on the upper platter that designated the zenith directly above the observer.I’ve used this under red light (to preserve eye sensitivity ) and it is still quite readable.A good choice if you are looking for a planisphere that actually is worth the price.

Love to go outside to look at stars with my grandson. I bought a flashlight that shines red and we turn it on under heath. Works great...

Wish it had glow in the dark, trying to constantly adjust between the flashlight/Planisphere combo and the night sky was annoying.

It's OK, it was worth what I paid for it and will be useful, but now wish I'd spent more and bought the Philip's Planisphere

This is a idealitem for those places where the internet is not working or very slow.It is a simple device to use an allows the user to see and identify what is actually in front of them.

The rotating star charts in this book making locating constellations a cinch. Good quality paper and cardboard. Sometimes paper is better than a smartphone for something like this. Only thing is at night you need the light from your cellphone to see the paper charts!

Además de incluir los habituales datos, añade la posibilidad de establecer las órbitas planetarias de Mercurio, Venus, Marte, Júpiter y Saturno, así como las posiciones del Sol y de la Luna, hasta el año 2022, algo que no se encuentra en otros planisferios. Su presentación cuenta con una doble carátula en cuyo interior se pueden encontrar descripciones y utilidades y el conjunto viene dentro de una funda de plástico transparente a modo de carpeta. El disco en sí no contiene ni una sola parte de cartón, es totalmente plástico en ambas caras lo que lo hace útil en cualquier circunstancia meteorológica, incluidas las inclemencias propias del invierno debidas a la humedad o relente. En el reverso del disco encontramos las mismas explicaciones que en la doble carátula, pero más resumidas.Los planisferios son un magnífico y barato instrumento científico para el conocimiento y observación del cielo y para su uso no requieren necesariamente de instrumentos ópticos. Por el contrario son el mejor método de aprendizaje de las constelaciones a lo largo de todas las estaciones y de conceptos como el azimut, el cenit, el nadir, la eclíptica, etc., así como para diferenciar las constelaciones zodiacales o las magnitudes visuales aparentes de las principales estrellas observables a simple vista. Si se acompaña de un buen compás lensático, un cuaderno y un lápiz, se puede llegar a tener un buen conocimiento del cielo. Y todo ello como paso previo a la iniciación con prismáticos y con telescopios. Incluso pasado ya un tiempo con cualquiera de éstos un planisferio siempre será una buena herramienta de consulta.En este caso, aunque en el planisferio se especifica que está diseñado para su uso en Canadá y Estados Unidos, y a partir de los 42º N, lo cierto es que resulta perfectamente utilizable desde Europa y sólo hay una pequeña diferencia de algo más de un grado en las latitudes más bajas correspondientes al Mediterráneo.CONCLUSIÓN: Si lo perdiese o se estropease irremediablemente, ¿lo compraría de nuevo? la respuesta es SI.
