Is it possible to love these characters more than I already did? Yes.
I'm a huge fan of Meads Vampire Academy series (and its spin off series Bloodlines) so when I heard about the anniversary edition I preordered it quicker than you could say Rose Hathaway... and then when I heard it would have extras in the form of short stories that gave a little more insight in to certain characters and scenes and my little heart just about gave out in the same way it did hearing (reading) Dimitri call Rose Roza... So why then has it taken me months.... yes months... to read it? Life is why. And yes I'm kicking myself. My girls and I were having a movie night just recently and I urged them to watch the movie adaptation, and as always happens, when I watch the movie I get the strongest urge to read the book again, and this time I gave in to that urge. I pushed all my other reads to one side and I threw myself in to Rose's world.Tasha Ozera was never really one of my favourite characters, but I certainly had a new found respect for her after reading The Turn and The Flame. And seeing how events unfolded immediately after Christian's parents turned Strigoi certainly made his attitude towards using his Fire Magic defensively easier to understand. The Meeting was a scene I didn't know I wanted until Mead gave it to us in this book. It is from Dimitri's POV and is the scene in which he and his team locate Rose and Lissa in Portland. It was very short but worth it for the glimpse inside his head. But my most favourite part of this anniversary edition was the final short story Hello My Name is Rose Hathaway. This takes place soon after the events of Vampire Academy, we follow Rose as she takes part in a scavenger hunt with Mason and Eddie. But the highlight for me, and I'm guessing for many other lovers of all things Rose and Dimitri, was when our hunky Russian decided to help Rose find one of the harder items on her list.By the time I had finished this book I was more in love with Rose and Dimitri than I was before, but I was terribly sad that it was over. I am definitely going to make room in my reading schedule to read the rest of the series, but I really hope Mead offers us up some more extra scenes in the future.

Great story!📚
I love this book, the story line is amazing and well put across to the reader. It isn't hard to read making it perfect for young adult readers, the only thing that would put me off recommending this to a younger reader than myself (12) is some of the adult content, there for I recommend this book to 12-15 year olds. This book keeps you gripped with thrill and adventure around every corner of St. Vladimir's school for Vampires! If it were possible I would give this book a 4.5, the reason I haven't given it 5 is because it isn't one of the best books I have read, I still absolutely love it though and couldn't put it down! I will defiantly be reading the next book in the series!

Good story, shame had to return as cover not same as image shown.
Returned item as the cover was different to the one on item. Normally I wouldn't return for this reason but I ordered with this cover as I'm helping a friend to replace her set which has been damaged and they have requested a complete set in the cover style which is advertised on this product, not the one with people on which arrived, clearly a different addition. Only because of my friends wishes have I ended up paying (p&p) for return and end up with no item. I have given 3 stars as seller did not indicate that the cover in image was not the same as the book they were selling.

Love, love, love
This was a book that came highly recommended, alongside another which I hated. I was nervous before I opened it, thinking I might hate it when it seemed like just my sort of thing. But within the first chapter, I was hooked. I think that is the marker of a good story, as much as a good writer. But after reading it, I noticed there was something missing. Not once during the book, or the series in fact, does Rose Hathaway ever have doubts about the way she looks. She doesn't worry about getting on the scales. She doesn't call herself fat or question her looks. Rose is truly confident in the way she looks, the way she moves her body, and this hasn't come from sex.Rose thinks about her body primarily in terms of what she can or can't do with it. She only has minor concerns about the clothes she wears, and she only compares herself to the catwalk-like Moroi in terms of what the differences are.It made me trust her. I believe in Rose Hathaway as a character, and Richelle Mead as a writer for young women. Yes, there are moral dilemmas that she faces, but everything is seen through the eyes of the guardian in training; she doesn't stop fooling around with boys because of some concern over rumours, she learns about self-respect through her trainer Dimitri Belikiov, who teaches her how to use her body, and challenges her perspective on her previous actions.Within the first page I was hooked on the dynamic of Rose and Lissa's friendship, as well as the world of Dhampirs, Moroi and the Royal element. I was fascinated by the way Mead equates blood to power, giving it is giving away self-respect (supposedly), and taking it from someone is a show of power. I was surprised and delighted (and honestly? A little disappointed...) that the ending of this book didn't mean Rose and Dimitri getting together. That Rose's crush is tempered with her own concerns, and her care of her oldest friend.I recently saw someone on Twitter saying you had to 'push past' this book, as the others get better, but personally, I love this book. I'm currently re-reading for university, and from this perspective, not only do I still love how strong Rose is, but I admire Mead as a writer, because I have never seen every hint, every echo, every future foreshadowing of the entire series on just the first page.If you are looking for a story of strength, honour, vampires and politics, all seen through the eyes of a young adult, this is the book (and series) for you.Happy Reading,Ashlie xo[...]

Equal parts funny and thrilling.
This roller coaster of a book is sure to keep anyone hooked on. Although I will recommend this book to 14-18 year olds, this is one YA book that anyone can read and enjoy. The characters, particularly Lissa, Rose, Dimitri and Christian are pretty well rounded. The plot of course will suit a lot of YA readers. And as I said, it is pretty funny. Oh, and I know people generally don't like the movie, I sure did, and would recommend that if you read this book, do check out the movie too.

Good Start for a new (to me) series
This is book one of the Vampire Academy series. It was a very good, fast read. The action and plot were both excellent. The main plot twist was unseen by both myself and my wife. With lesser authors it is usually very easy to "see it coming". Richelle Mead is definitely not one of those lesser authors. She writes with a strength and fluidity that puts he r up there with the best of the genre. I bought all 6 books not knowing what to expect. Now I am very happy with that purchase and am excitedly anticipating starting book two.Great book and looks like a great series. Good job Ms. Mead.

Malas condiciones.

Band lesen. Diesmal wohl auf Deutsch.

It was good but I missed something
This is one of the hardest reviews to write - thats why I keep it short.I didn't like the beginning, thought it was kind of boring. But it went better page after page and it got me in the last 100 sides.I like Vampire stories really much.At the end I loved Dimitri. He's amazing.Never got close to Rose or Lissa. But well, it's worth to read and I guess I will get the others too.Or maybe it was just because of the writingskill, don't know.

Action packed and sassy little vampire books not just for teens
Finally a teen book that wasn't written for 10 year olds! I couldn't put this book down I read all 3 books that are out so far in 2 nights and I can't wait for the 4th to come out. The main character, Rose is stubborn, hormone riddled and funny. The fact that Richelle Mead added a few curse words to her venacular adds to the believability of the books. Despite the fact these books are about vampires, life is much the same in the Academy as in real life highschool. I wish there'd been teen books out like this when I was young, I'd instead resorted to adult fiction. The storyline is great, fast paced and entertaining. If you make it to the 3rd book you're in for a treat they just keep getting better.

Well balanced, fun read
Not an overly mushy book... Well balanced with action. Lots of details and back story. I can't wait to continue the series... Although a huge stretch, in some ways it feels/reminds me of Harry Potter with a vamp twist.Wish X-ray actually gave accurate descriptions rather than a definition of a rose for Rose Hathaway or name meanings for other characters.
