Uniden UBC-125XLT 500 Channel Handheld Scanner Pre-Programmed Version

The radio arrived well packaged. I made it a priority to read the manual & got the batteries placed into the radio & on to charge which took approximately 12 hours (perfect for overnight charging).I took the time to read the manual cover-to-cover so when I fired up the scanner this morning I was already familiarised with how the scanner functions.The radio fits very comfortably into my hand, the build feels robust along with the keypad buttons.Prior to purchasing I read a review by another Uniden Scanner customer who recommended the Moonraker Skyscan Antenna rather than only using the Rubber Ducky Antenna. I might very well still use the Rubber Ducky if I’m in close proximity to “radio action” like being very near an airport.The pre-programmed radio bands & the powerful Moonraker Skyscan Antenna made it a slice of lemon drizzle cake, a delight, to immediately start receiving transmissions. FlightRadar24 on the desktop, Gatwick Airport Air Traffic Control on the scanner - perfect!Also Heathrow Airport coming in on full signal strength!This is a new hobby for me & the quality build of the Uniden Scanner combined with pre-programmed bands & the option to save additional frequencies gives scope for me to go further as I become more confident with using the scanner.In summary: I 100% recommend this scanner, especially for people like me who are new to this hobby. I’ll be taking the Uniden Scanner out & about with me during the summer months & beyond!Treat yourself! Retreat into the man/woman cave & explore away to your heart’s content!

Great little device some say it is very difficult to program but there are loads of videos on YouTube showing the different modes the device has, the main thing I like about the device is that it has the usbc port rather than the micro usb that the older model has.

I ordered this on the 26th and it arrived on the 29th. Well packed and not chewed at all! Years ago I had an icom rc10 but time caught up with it after much time spent gathering dust. I have found the Uniden much simpler to use straight out of the box. I had a Watson W-881 to replace the supplied antenna and this has immediately improved reception. I purchased the pre-programmed model and whilst it has some frequencies that I will never use the instructions as to how to delete them are very straightforward. Early days but all in all I am happy with the product and happy with the service. Thank you for the sweets and a big woof to the packing department!

Programmed version so easy to use OTB. Having fun playing with other features and getting to learn scanning. Standard antenna okay but got a high gain antenna as a replacement as well as a base antenna for greater range given my normal location is not the best for LOS comms.

Preprogrammed so some frequencies already installed.Initial opinion for my first scanner is good.

Bought as a birthday present, hence the late review. OH loves it. Really easy to use, can be used by a beginner straight out of the box. Sound quality is excellent and is the signal strength. All in all an excellent buy, excellent value for money and really does exceed expectations.

I received this radio which was packed with care. The radio it's self was a bit of a steep learning curve but after reading the manual and watching YouTube videos I learnt quickly how to use it. The radio was already preprogrammed with everything I needed. As an aviation enthusiast I immediately attached it to my airband antenna and headed to an area of high elevation. The scanner didn't overload and the ATC was extremely busy. I was able to Rx both controller and aircraft for aircraft over Scotland in Northern Ireland. The receiver handled my external antenna fine, and the audio was good.Take time to learn this radio and you'll enjoy it.P.s thanks for the sweets 😁!

Very compact design. With great sound quality. Isn't as hard to learn as some have stated.Whatvi will say is that you will need a good aerial. As the rubber duck supplied is next to useless. I bought a moonraker skyscan aerial, which really brought my scanner to lifeBut this little beauty performs well. You get 2 2300n rechargeable batteries. Which give around 3 hours battery life. I bought 4 2800n rechargeable batteries, which have increased battery life to around 5 hours.All said, this is a great scanner. With some superb modes. Great value for money.
