Well laid out book that takes you on a pleasant journey through centuries of decorative type.
I have looked at lots of books on calligraphy over the years, but this is actually the first one I've bought. It has a wide spectrum of different styles of fonts which covers so many of the techniques one needs to become a decent calligrapher. I'm not sure I have it in me, but I know a good book when I see one, and this is it.Not only has it got the variety to rival any other volume on the subject I have seen, but it is so orderly and neatly laid out it is a joy just to leaf through. Finding something is easy and getting inspiration is almost inevitable – although sometimes when I feel inspired by books, I get ideas that are totally unrelated to the subject of the book I am looking at.For anyone at almost any level from complete beginner to intermediate, this is the book I'd recommend getting. It takes you on a fantastic journey through centuries of decorative type, but without overwhelming you.

Great little book
I didn't realise this was a small book when I ordered it. I didn't need to worry though as it's packed with information. It's a very enjoyable and useful book

A good beginner's book
This book was great to get an idea of the basics, I think more detail could have been included for sentence writing but all in all a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn calligraphy

A very thorough, well-organised and easy-to-read book, with ...
A very thorough, well-organised and easy-to-read book, with details of 100 different alphabets, as well as a section on illuminated lettering. If I have one reservation, it is that because of the relatively small page size, there is no room for notes on alternative letter forms for particular alphabets, and each one has the same letters- for example, it would be interesting to show alternative forms of “s” and “r” in some of the older scripts, as well as letters actually used, such as “ð”, “þ”, “æ” or “ƿ” in half-uncial, whereas “ß”, “å”, and “ø” are included. I’m just nit-picking, really, because I’ve just been looking at some old manuscripts where they are very obvious. I realise this book is for modern calligraphers, not tenth century monks...

Exactly what is says it is. 100 alphabets in capital and lower case
I bought this after doing a lot of research on calligraphy books. This has one hundred alphabets in both capitals and lower cases. There is a good introduction and explanation albeit short. You will need to trace or photocopy the pages and there is no practice pages with it.I am very happy to have so many alphabets to practice and a smidge disappointed it has not as much explanation as I would like but.... don’t let that put you off as that is a personal preference. There is adequate explanation and information for beginners and intermediates.I have given it 5 stars as it is exactly what it said it was ...100 alphabets which is very helpful. It is my own personal preference which is that of wanting to have my cake and eat it that makes it not exactly perfect.

For every Calligrapher
Smaller in size than you might think, but is spiral bound inside the cover, so actually really sturdy.Loafs of different fonts to master using different types of pens/brushes. Gives you all the info you'll need like the angle to hold the pen at, key points for letters that might be trickier, and arrows along each letter to show you what order and direction to draw each line in to form the letters.A really good purchase if you're trying to get into lettering but find yourself a bit lost as to what fonts to try.

Useful resource for calligraphy.
I bought it to use as a reference guide for various styles of calligraphy. It has a solid collection of styles, from the early Roman, medieval, renaissance and even more modern fonts. The guide in how to draw the letters is well done. It showed you angles, nip widths and stroke technique. Well worth a buy for anyone interested in calligraphy.

Wealth of knowledge in anticipation of calligraphy activities.
Our granddaughter was thrilled to receive The Calligrapher's Bible. She received it a few days before she received the calligraphy pens and paper. She spent those days studying this book, anticipating the arrival of related art materials.

Kitap güzel ancak
Baskı çok küçük. A4e yakın boyutlar daha işlevsel olabilirdi.
