BLACK+DECKER 4-Slice Toaster with Dual Shade Controls

The best thing about this, in my opinion, is that each side has its own setting for toast and it's NOT digitized. It has real knobs so I can choose a setting between the main number settings. If I want to set my toast just a smidge past level 5, I can do it and the machine won't stop me. It does leave grill marks on the toast, so if you want your toast 100% even, perhaps this isn't the way to go. It looks pretty, and it doesn't bother me at all. I find that when the bread toasts, both sides get toasted and the inside stays slightly soft (depending on how high the setting is of course). High settings get it various levels of crispiness, losing that soft center. My son makes his toast a perfect golden brown and he remembers the setting he needs to achieve that every time. There's a bagel setting for toasting bagels. It toasts one side of your bagel and not the other. So when you slice a bagel, it will toast only the sliced side, or only the rounded side, depending how you decide to put your bagel in. In my house, we much prefer a completely toasted bagel, so after the first few days, we stopped using this function. The function works well, we just don't care for it. We make toast in our house at least once a day, and it took about a week for the new appliance chemical smell dissipated entirely. I think that's reasonable. The crumb trays open from the back, which is fairly common in toasters. It also has an emergency POP button that you can push if you need to eject your toast in a hurry. There is one on both sides of the toaster, to eject each side as needed. The button is located in the center of the setting knob, so some may miss it if they're not searching for it. Overall, I'm very satisfied. We've been using it for about a month (I think?), and we've used it pretty hard without any issues. I should also say, I hesitated to buy this toaster because of the chrome/stainless steel finish to it. I really can't stand wiping fingerprints all the time. But actually, I find I really don't have to buff it much at all. I wipe it down sometimes because we use it a lot, but never for fingerprints. I really like this toaster! It's simple, looks nice, and I can choose the exact setting I want. Five stars for sure.

Have had these for about a month, I purchased 2 of them for my companies break rooms. Quality looks nice, they have a sleek look. I was worried about the amount of fingerprints and smudges but that hasnt yet been an issue. All of the employees immediately made great comments about them and love the 4 slice option.

We have been using this toaster almost daily since we purchased it, and we love it. Love that you can toast 4 things at once...definitely a must have with kids. Also, like that you can adjust it for frozen items or bagels. The slots are a good size, even for fresh sliced bread from something like a crusty Italian loaf. It IS powerful, in that if you have the temperature dial on a high number, it will easily burn things. I really don’t think this is an issue. I just started out with a lower setting and based our general toasting setting off of those initial trials. It doesn’t bother me that I have to keep the dial set lower for everyday toasting. Honestly, I feel like that is consistent with other toaster we have owned. I have also had no issues with uneven toasting (darker on one side than the other). It toasts beautifully. It’s also a very attractive toaster! Love the stainless steel look...very sleek and modern. A much needed upgrade from our previous black plastic embarrassment. Some people complained about fingerprints...it’s stainless steel...it goes with the territory. I wipe it off to keep it looking sleek and clean, just like any other stainless steel item we own. If you don’t like having to do a quick wipe down, don’t go with stainless steel. Overall, we have had no issues with this toaster and would recommend it!

Good toaster. Has all the features I needed and the defrost setting is a plus. Toasts to the level of brownness selected but doubtful the toaster will last as long as the U.S built appliances from the 40s and 50s.

Love my new toaster..i only buy black and decker brand and replaced my old one that was also B&D because it was 33 years old!

Love the toaster, toasts pretty even, love the different features. I've had it for a while and one side wouldn't stay down but it's fine now

We bought this toaster in October 2024, and it toasted great until 3/19/2025. At that time, the left side of toaster would not stay down. I am very disappointed in this product, as Black and Decker appliances have always been reliable in the past. We would like to have it replaced with a new fully working toaster. At that time, we will update our review to reflect your responsiveness to our concerns. Thank you. UPDATE 3/22 - I connected with Black & Decker customer service with minimal problems. I answered a few questions, and they confirmed product was under warranty. To obtain a replacement, I had to cut the cord a few inches from plug, send them pictures of this and the front of the plug, along with a copy of the original receipt, which I did via email. Within a couple of hours, they confirmed receipt and advised they would email me a tracking # once the order was mailed. All representatives were polite and responsive. My only complaint was that they told me I could expect to receive the product within 7-14 business days. Since we received a faulty product, I would have expected a quicker turn-around time, which will cause a minor inconvenience to us as we love our toasted bagels in the morning! I will update this post once we get the replacement. 04/01/2025 - Our new toaster arrived today in perfect condition and works great! Thank you. 07/10/2025 - Once again, we are having problems. After only three months, the left side of our Black & Decker replacement toaster received through Spectrum Home Appliance does not work. To me, this indicates a manufacturing defect and/or distributor sending defective products. I would not recommend this toaster and will again be contacting Spectrum Home Appliances.

Simply wanted a toaster that was 4 slice and focused on even toasting not any other fancy bells and whistles. After reading review this one fit the bill. Got it for a great price, and when it arrived I was skeptical. From a build perspective it seemed fragile with the thin metal skin, but then again ... it's a toaster. Once put in use we found it to be a great toaster --- we get even toasting and after a couple tries have the dials down pat to where we like it and figured out bagel setting. That's all we use it for .. not for warming stuff or anything outside toasting. For that it works fine, has all the features we wanted/needed, and looks OK to boot. Longevity ... we will see.

This is a toaster. It toasts bread and other things you might stick into it. Now, pay attention to that last remark because it not only indicates what the toaster does but it also should function as a warning. If you have something you don't want toasted like, say, a knife, your fingers or other various body parts, it's probably not the best idea to stick it in this toaster because, well, because it WILL be toasted. On the other had, it does an adequate and admirable job of toasting those things you do want toasted. Its function is intuitive and complete, offering all the various functions that you would expect from a small appliance in this price range. If I were prevailed upon to find something negative about the toaster, it would be that it "feels" sort of clanky and clattery and cheap. That being said, though, it appears well enough constructed and I expect that it will provide me with golden baked items for many years to come. Have at 'er. It will most likely do the trick for you, too.

Best toaster of 6 best known brands between $270.00 and $59.00. Toaster quality is obviously not that of a $270.00 toaster but is good for the money and does what you buy a toaster for .... toasting. Highly recommend.
