My little everyday camera crush
I’ve used a few compact cameras and gimbals, and this one has been an absolute joy. The 1-inch sensor gives me gorgeous 8K footage with so much detail, and the dynamic range is impressive even in tricky light. Stabilization is buttery smooth, and the AI tracking keeps my subjects centered, even my energetic pup. The detachable OLED screen is a game-changer for filming myself, and switching to 4K vertical for social is super quick. The Leica colors are beautiful straight out of camera. Battery life is solid, and fast charging is a lovely bonus. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and makes everyday moments look special. The only tiny hassle is needing the app to activate it, but after that it’s pure fun. I reach for this way more than my bigger gear.

The flip lens is actually really fun
I honestly didn’t think I’d use the 180° rotating lens much, but it ended up being one of my favorite features. Flipping it gives you some really cool upside-down shots, and it makes simple videos look a lot more creative than they really are. I’ve used it mostly for skate clips and just messing around outside. The color sharing feature also turned out to be more useful than I expected. I spent some time getting the colors the way I wanted, made the QR code, and my friend scanned it so our videos had the same look. Way easier than trying to match everything manually. I also tried the 360 photo mode at a party, and that was a hit. People kept moving the photo around trying to find themselves. For such a small camera, it has a lot of fun features.

Care saved me
I usually skip protection plans, but this one ended up being useful. While hiking in Japan, I dropped my Luna and cracked the screen. Since I still had about a week left in my trip, I was pretty annoyed and thought I’d be without a camera for the rest of the time. I contacted Insta360 support and the process was more straightforward than I expected. After paying the replacement fee, they helped arrange a replacement and shipped it to my hotel. It took a few days, but I still got it in time to use on the rest of the trip. It’s not free, of course, but it was still much better than being stuck with a broken camera or waiting on a repair for weeks. For frequent travelers, I can see the value.

Barely any battery anxiety anymore
The camera I used before had terrible battery life, so carrying two spares was just normal for me. On trips especially, I'd waste time hunting for charging spots. When I heard the Luna Pro could shoot for up to 4 hours, I was skeptical. But after a full day of sightseeing, I was shocked to see it still had over 10% left. Even better, I went back to the hotel at lunch and plugged it into a fast charger. By the time I finished eating, it was already back to nearly 80%, and my afternoon shooting went off without a hitch. The official spec says 23 minutes to 80%, but honestly it felt even shorter (haha). One note: fast charging requires a dedicated adapter, so I'd recommend picking up the official one separately. Still, being freed from battery stress is huge. I've even saved money by not buying spare batteries. For anyone who shoots for long hours, this is easily the biggest selling point.

Skin looks good without much effort
I’ll be honest: I usually can’t stand in-camera beauty modes. Most of them make people look waxy and overprocessed. This one is actually pretty subtle. You can adjust the levels, and I keep the smoothing turned down low. It just lifts the face a bit and evens out skin tone without wiping out all the natural texture. Overall, it still looks like a real person. The telephoto lens also gives really pleasing background blur—actual optical blur, not the fake portrait-mode look you get from a phone. I filmed my wife at a café from across the table, and the background fell off really nicely. She didn’t even realize I was recording. When she watched it back, she asked if I had used a filter. Nope, just the standard mode. I look better on video without having to do much, which is honestly all I was hoping for.

Honestly Surprised
I almost skipped the windshield, but then I recorded a clip on a windy hill without it, and the audio was practically unusable. I put the case on and recorded the same clip again, and the difference was huge. The wind noise was reduced far more than I expected, and my voice came through clearly while the background wind was barely noticeable. It’s not perfect in really strong gusts, but for most outdoor shooting, it’s a lifesaver.

Tracking makes slow mo much more usable
I film my dog running on the beach all the time. Before this, I have been shoot shooting slow mo with a different camera and usually end up with shaky footage of empty sand because he’d bolt out of frame. Now I just tap on him and let the camera track him. 4K120 looks great when you play back, and the tracking does a good job keeping him centered even when he starts zigzagging. It’s not flawless tho, every now and then the camera lags for a second, but it catches back up fast. Battery drains faster with tracking on, but for action shots it’s absolutely worth it. I actually use slow motion more often now

fun to use, especially outdoors
Took this with me on a hike last weekend and tried the 360 mode for the first time. It was easy to switch over and capture the shot. I usually end up taking a lot of regular photos, but they never really show the full scene. This did a better job of capturing the surroundings, and being able to look around the image later on my phone was a nice surprise. It’s definitely more interesting than a standard picture. I’m still figuring out when I’d use it most, but for scenic places, I can see myself using it again.

One of my best purchases this year
I’m genuinely impressed with this camera. The first thing that stood out to me was the image quality. I knew it could shoot in 8K HDR, but the actual results still exceeded my expectations. Night scenes with neon lights look vivid and vibrant, and sunset shots come out with beautiful color and contrast. The footage has a clean, cinematic feel that looks far better than I expected at this price. What really sold me, though, was the zoom. Even at 4x, the image stays surprisingly sharp and detailed. I could still make out facial expressions clearly, which is something I usually don’t expect once I start zooming in on most cameras. Instead of getting soft or grainy, the footage remains very usable and polished. I also love the flexibility of having both 2x lossless zoom and 4x high-resolution zoom. It gives me a lot more freedom when framing shots, especially when I can’t physically get closer to the subject. Being able to zoom without constantly worrying about image quality makes a huge difference. Overall, this has easily been one of my favorite purchases this year. If you care about video quality and want a camera that delivers sharp, vibrant results even when zooming, this one is absolutely worth considering.
