Lead keeps sliding down on neck. How do you keep it in place without having to tight

Well I hate to tell you but it is almost impossible unless your dog walks at heel. Cesar has a much better and wider collar with the same slip lead function that helps keep the slip lead in place nearer the dogs ears. If I buy another one, it will be the new $45.00 one. Right now I'm using a choke collar made of steel but my Labrador walks at the heel about 60% of the time. His obedience training classes seem to go much better with this setup. Hope this helps you.

Why is this not recommended for puppies?

It is because puppies necks are not fully developed until about 18 months

Getting reviews that the lead is not good for small dogs. i have a 11 mo old lhasa apso. will it work for him?

This lead works for my 9# Yorkie. It takes some getting used to but it worked. I used two leashes at first until I felt comfortable with it. She would pull a lot and drag us where she wants to go but she didn’t do that with this leash. One thing I sound caution you on is excessive jerking on the neck. You could damage the thyroid so keep it high on the neck. I didn’t need to pull up hardly at all. I would prefer a little narrower rope for a small dig but since it works that is all that matters. What size leash should i order for an 18 lb cavalier king charles spaniel?

I have only seen 2 sizes, but believe both are 48" in length. The small size is thinner and would be a better fit for your King Charles. If you are unfamiliar with Cesar's slip lead, I highly recommend viewing the video before using. The slip lead is a wonderful tool.

Just what I expected

The leash is pretty much as expected. It is a little shorter than I thought but that was more to do with my perception. It is as long as it was described. Rope is a nice thickness and well made. The connections are strong and neat looking. Am looking forward to using it.
