OtterBox COMMUTER SERIES Case for iPhone XR - Retail Packaging - BALLET WAY (PINK SALT/BLUSH)

This is technically my third time ordering this case (twice for myself, once for a friend) and honestly, its almost perfect. It is, generally speaking, a very bulky and large case which might be a problem for some, but the size is definitely worth it for how well it holds up. I had the first case for years and it went through quite a beating before the rubbery interior started to fall apart, and even then it continued on. The piece that covers the charging port will likely be the first to go, but thats only because of extended use and, really, that isn't much of a problem. It's super easy to take on and off, but that doesn't mean it'll come off on its own (I had that problem with a few other cases). Because of this, it's also easy to clean with dish soap and water and to dry. The back has a hard shell that has a bit of texture to it, so I'm not sure how well a pop-socket would stick to it, but because they are relatively plain, my friend opted to decorate hers with stickers and they haven't come off. I think the blue is the best colour since it doesn't show dirt and wear as quickly as a lighter colour might. While the case might seem costly in comparison to others, every penny is worth it for how well it protects your phone.

I really wanted a case that would absorb the shock of a fall and have enough of a lip around the screen to keep the screen from touching the floor if it fell face first. ( I had that happen once and my screen was toast.) So, I decided on this case. It looks very nice and is high quality as you would expect from Otterbox. It is a little heavier than my last case and a little thicker - but that's the price for the protection. I like that it feels solid and not slippery in your hand. I do use a pop-socket so feeling a little large doesn't seem to bother me. Even with its size, it still fits easily into my pocket. Case fits snug and all buttons are responsive. The back part is more of a hard plastic with rubber wrapping around to the front. It works with my wireless "just lay the phone down" charger (even with my popsocket on it). I debated between this case and the otterbox Symmetry case. My daughter did get the symmetry case and it is lighter and thinner. It is very nice as well, however, the lip around the screen face is not as deep and although I think it will protect her phone well, I am sure mine would handle a rough fall better. So, if you're looking for more light and slim - symmetry all the way - if you are looking for protection because you've spent too much money to replace this phone - get the commuter!

I drop my phone all the time and I’ve always used the “defender/defense” line from Otter for over a decade. It really offers the best protection and also is the thickest case there is. Commuter also seems to offer a similar protection but slimmer. I think I’ll be using the commuter line for the next decade!

This was the first time I bought an Otterbox. I really liked my old Magpul case but it did not have a cover for the charging port. I didn't think this was a problem but after several years with my old iPhone I had to often clean my phone's charging port of dust or else it wouldn't charge. This is a common problem if you’re like me and keep your phone in your pocket a lot. For my new iPhone XR I wanted a case with dust protection over the charging port. The Otterbox Commuter fit the bill and the added bulk was a trade off I was okay with when comparing this case with the Otterbox Symmetry. Pros: 1) Great protection for the iPhone XR 2) The case fits like a glove and yet is pretty easy to take on and off the phone. 3) Pretty good grip on the case 4) Cover for the charging port 5) The case doesn't seem to stretch over time like other cases I've had. 6) Otterbox's customer service and 7 year warranty for mobile cases. Cons: 1) Case is bulky and probably not as stylish as thinner cases (e.g., Otterbox Symmetry or Magpul Bump Case). Here's the reason I can only give the case 4 stars. After 19 months of using this case on my iPhone XR, the synthetic rubber flap that covers the charge port began to wear down to the point where it fell off my old case (see pictures). This was very disappointing considering the cost of the case and the reputation of the brand. I'm not really harsh on my phone, just the usual wear and tear. Through the Otterbox website I activated the warranty on Sunday and received a new case on Friday. The replacement case was technically free but I had to pay $7.45 for the S&H and tax. If you're undecided about this case, go for it. You'll be happy with it, just go easy on that rubber flap covering your charge port.

We've had many of the commuter cases over the years and they've protected all our phones very well after many drops. Will continue to get these. Color is true and attractive. Well made and should last for years. I don't find them bulky but I'm sure some have a lower profile. This is middle of the range in that respect. Popsocks stick fine, just press on and leave it for as long as possible to get good adherence.

In a nutshell: Pros: 1. Product is excellent and assured that even if it falls from 6 feet, there would not be any damage to the phone. 2. Easy to install 3. Good grip with rubber(y) feeling 4. Goes well with a screen-guard. CONS: 1. BULKY - Trust me - the phone becomes twice the width. XR by no means is a small phone, but this cover beefs up... feels like a wrestler is pumped with air! This would ensure that you have to use both your hands to operate the phone. 2. The blue colour appears dark in the images but in actual is towards a lighter shade of blue. Its not bad, but does feel odd for a colour other than black phone (I have a red). 3. I actually prefer to close the screen when not in use. hence I have returned this and placed order for an otterbox Strada. This is definitely a decent product and would make sure that your expensive investment (a joke to call a phone) is protected but adds a lot of bulk to existing bulk.
