Sweet Creations3D Mini Christmas Tree Cookie Cutter Kit

I thought I'd like the 3D idea of cookies but not as practical as I thought to give as presents or take to work for friends. Anticipate using additional icing to cover seams. My technique isn't perfected yet, as my cookies didn't fit together as well as others who posted reviews. I tried to trim them after baking to fit together, but ended up breaking the cookies. I stuck to regular flat cookies, but I'll keep trying for the 3D ones.

If you love making Christmas cookies you NEED this. After the cookies baked and cooled I put the two specially fitted pieces together and the Christmas tree stood right up. I created a mini forest of Christmas deliciousness! NOTE: some trimming of the trees is necessary to fit the pieces together but it's totally worth it!

Its a great concept but even with a no fail sugar cookie recipe you can't slide the 2 pieces inside each other to make the 3-D tree. I really wish this would have worked.

Did not work well. Dough stuck in the many areas within the cutter.

I bought all of the Sweet Creations 3D Christmas cookie cutters (the tree, the Santa, and the mini gingerbread house) about three years ago and have used them every Christmas to go along with a full-sized gingerbread house. The gingerbread recipe does not puff up like many sugar cookie recipes and so I have never had any problem with getting my cookie pieces to fit together to get the proper 3D effect. The trees are especially stable and will stand nicely even without any icing of any kind holding pieces in place. The ornaments on the tree are shallower than the edges so they leave a nice pattern but do not cut all the way through (though you definitely do not want to make your cookies too thin to both make sure you get good details and so the pieces are not too fragile to assemble).The cutters also have a nice rubber handgrip around the edges making it very comfortable to cut out a LOT of trees and they wash up easily in soapy water.

I have this Christmas tree and a few other 3D Cookie Cutters also...I really love them! This tree is especially easy to use and I have had no trouble getting the dough to cut out properly or assemble once baked. I have used a couple different sugar cookie recipes and they've all seemed to work for me. I could see how you might have troubles if your dough were too sticky or had not been refrigerated...having a cold, firm dough does the trick for me! These are great fun and add a little something extra to your holiday experience - kids especially like them!

The key to using these successfully lies entirely in the sugar cookie recipe and how thick/thin you roll out the dough. We had GREAT success with it! And the kiddos loved helping decorate. The cookies stood well on their own and we had no trouble sliding the two pieces together.
