Make Your Own Soap (Klutz Activity Kit) for 72 months to 180 months includes blocks of clear soap base (20)

We got this for my 10 year old for her birthday and she LOVES it! She has asked about refills, so I'm glad that I bought a second kit when I ordered the first. This would make a great gift for kids around this age. I noticed that in the description it says that it will appeal to both boys & girls. I asked my 12 year old son if he thought it would be good for boys around her age and although he really enjoys creating, he thinks not, because it is marketed more girly, and the fragrance is more girly (according to him, although he happily uses all my B&BW hand soaps and often they are "girly" scents). I'm sure younger boys wouldn't have any prejudice to this kit and would totally love it. It's seriously great! My daughter (with the "assistance" of her barely 7 year old sister) has made a few of the soaps completely on her own, even the first time making them, at the kitchen counter while I have made dinner.

My 5 and 7 yr olds had a blast. Overall it was neat, and if i had known how much glitter would be everywhere I would have thrown the little bag out. But it was a pleasant experience none the less. The soaps are easy to make, the little book comes with the "recepies" and its easy to follow. It even had pictures so my kids could do it without needing to read. The star was taken out too early and a piece broke off, but we re-melted it for 10s in the microwave and poured it in the mold again and it came out perfect. Would definately recommend this as a fun activity with minimal mess. We used to go cofee cups to mix the soaps , and it worked perfect!

Pros: -Very easy to do (surprisingly easy, in fact) -It's a quick activity, so doesn't take hours and hours -Simple instructions -Cleaning up is easy. Just soak the stirring spoon and measuring glass in water overnight and the hardened soap dissolves -The projects are cute and my kid loved them Cons: -Melted soap is extremely hot and hardens extremely quickly, so I had to do all of the heating and pouring -If using the microwave method, it's incredibly difficult to keep the soap from bubbling while you heat it, which makes the finished result look cloudy. Because of this, our fish-in-a-bag soap ended up being a complete fail. Still, that was the only fail we had -The purple is EXTREMELY dark, it almost looks black (my kid thinks this is a "pro," not a "con," because she put a lot of glitter in the purple soap, and she thinks the finished product looks like a galaxy filled with stars. It looks cool, but if you and your kid are expecting a bright purple, you'll be disappointed). I still think this is a great kit, and the soaps turned out nice. I am glad that it's so quick, though. I don't know if it would keep my 8yo's attention any longer. She could pick the project, pick the colors, and put the scented oil in the melted soap, but since all the stirring and pouring has to happen so quickly, I had to do that. Even so, she absolutely loves the finished products. Most came out better than I expected. And at the end of it, you have a handful of useful items. Since this review is being written in April of 2020, easy craft kits have been a godsend for giving my kid something to do. And with current events, having a handful of adorable soaps has been so great in encouraging my kid to wash her hands. Definitely a good value, even with the list of cons.

I gifted my 12year old this and she loved it. She did a couple of hand soaps that we all used in the washroom. I mean what was I going to tell her no, it's soap! Overall we all used it and it was good soap that did smell good and left hands clean. It did not dissolve right away like cheap soap, in other words even though it was small it lasted!

My daughter loves walking soap-making videos on YouTube, so this was a great gift for her and a fun craft. She loved making the different soaps and they were easy to do (with my help). HINT: Buy extra soap base because you won't want to stop and this kit only makes about 7-10 little soaps. If you have extra the fun won't stop. All in all, a wonderful gift for kids who love crafts!

For the love of dogs don’t buy it unless you Have a disregard for all things sacred! I bought this for our daughter for Christmas - she’s in to crafting and DIY projects. Ok great! We set her up at the kitchen table and let her go! First the disaster from mixing and making the soap! The entire table cloth got wrapped up and tossed! Even if I’d have gotten the wax/soap out I’m sure the perfume would have lingered for weeks! Headache inducing and strong perfume that brought bad words to my mouth! Then! She takes these “homemade” soaps into the bathroom to actually USE them! For heavens sakes I thought we had a jelly fish swim up our pipes! I went in the bathroom to do a general cleaning that weekend (scrub the tub toilet etc) and my fingers went into a cold ball of slime! WTF did I just touch! As I pull my fingers out of this nasty purple concoction praying to the man above that it wasn’t Toxic...I tentatively sniffed my fingers (brave I know!) and realize that same horrible smell was also in my tablecloth earlier that week! Apparently once made the “soaps” don’t hold up well when they get wet! LOTS of scalding hot water later (to melt the grossness away) I finally had a clean; albeit smelly; bathroom! Do not buy unless you don’t care about messes and your house smelling like a cheap date! Do everyone a favor a buy good quality ingredients and teach them the correct way to make soap! (Shea butters, cocoa butters etc) and mix it properly and buy pretty little rubber molds!

You have to work very fast or the soap doesn't pour well. It's more of a parent activit while the kids watch then kids doing it themselves.

Got this on sale before Christmas last year. It was an easy craft that my daughter was able to do herself. Good activity for Winter Break while she was home and I was working. Would recommend.

its a great start our kit for kids. cute ideas and easy to do. you melt in microwave and pour. what we didnt like was the color tablets.. some of them seemed dried up and were hard to mix, they left chunks in the soap.. id rather have drops of liquid color. but a great start to the craft. my kuds love using the soap they made and a snall toy fish hidden inside one is so cute
