Mrs Aloha Friday and I are older and new to selfies and even cell phones for that matter! So, we consider ourselves beginners in this realm, but we know good quality merchandise. This is for beginners, and is well suited to folks like us; it would not meet the needs of professionals with regular use. The materials are cheap plastic and don't feel like they'll hold up at all. The case told us everything we needed to know right away. I have good camera equipment and know the difference, especially in the tripod, which was the best part of the package other than the brightness of the light itself. Everything else, the items that hold things together or lock things in, is budget quality. It was hard to keep the cell phone horizontal in the light holder as it's held off-center and tips. You have to really tighten the knob to make sure it stays put. It's kind of a pain to take the phone out and remove the holder to turn it vertically or horizontally as well. But, mainly, we would say this is a first-timer's product because it feels like you'll need an upgrade sooner than later after fasteners break or it's too clumsy and you start realizing what you really need that works for you. This is a very good way to figure it out. The light is incredibly bright, and would be great for taking product photos or selfies for videos, etc. The dial to brighten and turn off/on is great because it allows you limitless options. The dial to go from warm, neutral in the middle and cool is great for that reason as well EXCEPT, the light emits a very soft, high frequency tone in the neutral area. It's not piercing, but it annoyed us. If you stand further away from the light it's harder to hear. All in all, we felt 4 stars, or GOOD, was fair. It's fine for our needs, and we'll learn as we go using this until it's time to upgrade when we know what we're doing. The last three photos of the instructions were taken with my cell phone with the light on full blast, in cool, neutral and warm. The light lit up the entire living room; we would plug it into our emergency battery in a power outage to get full room lighting. That light is the saving grace, and earned the kit 3.8 stars rounded to 4. The case gets a 1 star!

The best ring light!!

When I received the package and opened it, I was honestly a bit disappointed. The carrying case looked worn and dusty, which made it seem like the item might not be new. That was not a great first impression. However, everything inside the case was complete and matched the description. All parts were included and in good condition. The lamp works properly, and assembly was not difficult. Once set up, everything functions as expected. Despite the packaging issue, the lamp does what I need it to do and will definitely help me with my projects.

I love it…it’s worth every penny

I've been using this for so many purposes over the past few months. It gives me options for brightness and color temperature, and the tripod is easy to use and lets me aim the light EXACTLY where I want it. Most of the time it's just a light over my desk but I've also used it for car repairs, building a shed, and lighting the living room with a portable power unit during an extended power outage. You'd think I'd use it for making videos but I'm just NOW getting started with that and having the phone mount inside the ring is SO helpful. I can mount this light over where I'm working and it lets me see quite a bit better than a typical work light. And having it plugged in means no charging up batteries, but it's not something that is truly portable unless you have a strong power bank like we do. Nevertheless it comes with a great carrying case with specific spots for everything so it all fits nice and snug. The thing I like most outside of how well it works for me is that the remote control is nice because you can make adjustments to the light without touching it and making it shake with a phone attached. It's a nice strong solid tripod that comes with it but turning a knob for brightness or color temperature can move things when you least expect it, especially if you're in a hurry to make the change happen. The remote makes that a non-issue. I can't wait to get a second one!
