No gasket's to fail !!!!!
Remove the ratchet pin or grind off the teeth. Works best if it releases tension when oil pump is not running. Ford tried ratcheting tensioner and killed timing chains on newer engines. But without teeth its the best you can get. No plate needed with last model 5.4v3.

Way better than the OEM plastic tensioners with rubber gaskets
Way better than the OEM plastic tensioners with rubber gaskets. I had to do my timing in October 2016 and the OEM tensioners went out on my in April 2018. I ordered these because they ratchet out and dont get pushed out of the way by the chain allowing the chain to slip.

Solved the problem when used with a few other parts.
Has held up after the third time tearing into the dreaded triton. Just make sure you clean out the pickup tube and replace to the high volume oil pump from Melling while you’re in there.

Worked great! Now never have to worry about any check ...
Used this on my 2005 Ford Expedition instead of the ridiculous plastic OEM version. Worked great! Now never have to worry about any check engine lights due to this failing because there is no gasket to fail. It just binds metal to metal.

Better than plastic
Bought these to replace the plastic ones in a new crate motor.Turned out that the new motor already had these installed, so I guess I have a spare set if they are ever needed.
