What an absolute bargain & gem of a drive
This drive is fantastic value for money, very quiet, fast and low power usage. I used it to replace a 160gb 3.5" in my 4 camera CCTV recording system that had gone very noisy and appeared to be going faulty. Took a gamble at this price to make the change and it worked like a dream. A slight modification to the original cradle was all that was required to fit the smaller drive. It consumes 1/2 the power of the original and is so silent. Being a SATA 3 drive it was basically a plug in with no links to worry about, nothing else to change. The CCTV software recognised the drive and I was able to format it OK.An ideal drive for a SATA 3 laptop replacement/upgrade, but you must make sure your laptop is SATA 3 and not SATA 2 or IDE.

Great HDD!
I bought this due to the higher spin speed to upgrade a 3 year old laptop that was "creaking" a bit. I also loaded Windows 7 at the same time and am absolutely delighted with the results. The power on time due to win 7 AND the HDD start up is aprox 20 secs now (It was well over a minute before) and the HDD is pretty much silent. Great value for money.

Noisy
I put this in a 2008 MacBook and expected to be impressed considering previous reviews. I found it to be noisy compared to other 7200rpm drives that I have which is more annoying on a laptop computer than on a desktop one and I can't say that I noticed a speed difference in general use between this and a Scorpio Blue drive (5400rpm) that I have also tried, although I haven't run any benchmark tests. I would stay with a 5400rpm drive next time for a laptop in view of the noise and negligible performance difference. Try a SSD drive if you need speed!

WD Scorpio Black 160Gb 7200rpm
Fitted this to a 2008 HP Pavillion laptop to replace its original and still good 2007 160Gb 5400rpm Toshiba HD.Windows Vista Ultimate installed straight away in 25 minutes. This drive is quieter, slightly faster, and the battery lasts a little longer too.I'm very happy with this purchase and so have just ordered another for another Pavillion.Of course I could have ordered a larger capacity drive, but it is better to keep large files elsewhere so that the antivirus gives the laptop much less resource hogging work to do !

Good result.
Did not expect this to arrive untill after christmas. Came the 2nd day after the order packaged well for this type of equipment. Plugged it in and away we go! Works fine.

Reliable WD drive
Western Digital is my preferred brand for use in PC or external storage cases. The 160GB size of this drive is handy for just the OS, either Windows or Linux (even dual boot) especially if you mess around with testing software and need to clone or restore the drive from a backup on a regular basis. The speed of the Scorpio Black is just noticeably faster than the Caviar Blue devices I normally use. Never had a WD drive fail in over 12 years of using the brand and the longest I have used a particular drive was 9 years and then replacement was because it was not SATA (IDE) and too small to be of practical use, rather than because it had failed.

Like the price description was slightly off
These are very well priced performance 2.5 hard drives. I bought 4 for a RAID 10 Setup. However the invoice quoted new, the Hard drives are stating recertified. This means WD only give 6 months warranty, however Cambridge accessories give 1 year.If the hard drives were brand new ex factory build they would come with a 5 year warranty. Cannot quibble at the moment price and quantity 4 make good for a server RAID 10 setup, time will tell on mechanical performance.
