One of the reasons that I bought this was for the dual scale - it would save me the trouble of using a computer to convert from brix to SG (beer brewing). Unfortunately, the scale in this refractometer doesn't agree with any of the online sources. Other than that, it seems like a decent tool, but since the dual-scale is useless, there's no reason to pay more for this one.Also, r'meters don't work well when measuring final gravity, due to the presence of alcohol - the value that you get has to be further converted to determine the actual FG. That's an issue with all r'meters, not just this one - just wanted to point it out, as I didn't realize it when I ordered.

I believe that I am being generous in awarding two stars.Why?1. Amazon claims this refractometer has two scales, it only has one, no sg only brix.2. There are no markings on the refractometer indicating who makes it, what model no. country of origin, etc.3. same as 2. No information on or within instrument case.4. Warranty - There is no warranty certificate or any other information regarding who honors the warranty, if there really is one.5. Customer Service/repair. There is no information provided as to the terms of warranty repair, who to contact, or even that there is such a thing.6. Only documentation is a small calibration instruction sheet. Does not contain any information or either a company name, email address, or phone number.Called Xitech the "seller" who could not direct me to anyone who knew about the product. I then called the "manufacturer" who was friendly but could not provide any information as there was nothing to identify the product. This refractometer is sold under different "manufacturer" names and he said I could not even prove that it was provided by them.Essentially this product is totally misrepresented. No scale for less than 1 for wine making. IT is great for beer since it reads at any temperature.

Item received was not as described of Amazon's website...refractometer has single scale (BRIX only); there is no SG scale. Item comes in correct packaging, with instruction manual (single sheet) for dual scale refractometer. Otherwise product is a basic, lower end, unit. I was unable to find any manufacturer markings, and thus not able to verify who actually made the unit.Two stars give because item is usable, but not a quality product. After speaking with customer service, decided to keep this item as a back up unit for hobby purposes only. Will probably look to purchase another (different) unit in the near future.

IT IS JUST WHAT I EXPECTED AND ARRIVED IN A TIMELY FASHION.EXTREMELY EASY TO USE.IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING ONE BECAUSE YOU BREW BEER, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR.THE PRICE IS RIGHT AND YOU WILL FIND IT TAKES A LOT LESS TIME TO USE.

My friend has a dual scale version of this that he bought elsewhere that he really likes so when I saw this item, I didn't spend much time reading the comments. As described by previous reviews, this is NOT a dual scale refractometer; it only reads in Brix.Will return for refund and try purchasing another.

Both the title and the photo represent/say that this item is a dual scale refractometer, it is actually only a single scale (Brix). I wanted a refractometer with a specific gravity scale and am very upset with the false advertising. Amazon and Agriculture Solutions should have already rectified the issue but obviously do not care.

Much better than filling a test jar and using the old hydrometer then converting for temp. This thing has SG already built in and calibrates automatically for temp.
