I really like this crimping tool. The tool feels solid and ratcheting mechanism is smooth and satisfying when you clamp down on it. The tool case is very handy and has room to customize (for example, add just the connectors you need for the job to the top layer, or add additional items such as heat shrink tubes). I would suggest that if the lid had a little pocket for the instructions (or the key info, such as the Jaw table, were laminated on the lid that would be perfect. That said, here were my two life hacks to make this more useful to me (I’m new to the cable crimping world): #1) I cut the most important pieces of the manual (important for me to remember) and taped them to the lid and #2) I added some tweezers next to the crimping tool so I could better extract the tiny pieces from the lower tray.

This one works! I have gone through so many crimpers over the past 50 years, and this one will be my last. It works like a charm. Excellent quality for the price is unbeatable. Read the instructions! There is a correct way, and a wrong way to insert the connector.

The tool itself is amazing quality. Looks good, feels heavy, and all the parts are made really well. It crimps great and is easy to use. The plastic box fits everything great and keeps the little bits separate which most fail to do. Only complaint is the 2 orange latches pop off easily sometimes when you open it but I’m not concerned with it happening in storage or transport. Overall it’s a great kit and I am super impressed.

Crimpers and Stripper are of good quality and do the job of prepping the cable and attaching Mini-Fit Jr leads well. The connectors fit their atx connections well. Only con is of the remover, which is too small and broke almost instantly.

I used this kit to run consumer power inside a gutted Supermicro 847 JBOD that had a dead PDB. I decided to remove the server components and replace the fans with 120mm desktop PC fans to quiet it down. I was having issues with voltage drop on the 5v rail because the wiring coming from my desktop PSU was not setup for the power needs of a JBOD. I decided to make custom wiring harnesses and run all 3 peripheral outs from PSU to a trio of bus bars to distribute the power. This crimper set came with enough pins and almost enough connectors to get the job done (I salvaged one from my PSU). It made flawless crimps on 16 gauge wire into the provided pins and my voltage drop issues are gone. I would not recommend spending more money on a different kit just to get a removal tool - was able to remove the pins with a pair of staples.

My primary use is for prototyping on breadboards with MCUs and SBCs. If your intended use is for 22/24 AWG breadboard projects, you must absolutely turn the crimp force down to almost nothing. I was getting very frustrated with my results despite things lining up perfectly. Most of the time, despite what I thought was a successful crimp, the plastic housing failed to ever securely clip into place once sliding it over the end. Another reviewer here mentions leaving a small gap between the terminal and the flat side of the teeth (as in, avoid having them be flush). I would agree with that (and thank them!) for that bit of wisdom, as every single connector I tried using that approach lead to very satisfying and gentle clips when applying the plastic housing. Instructions are adequate, but if this is your first time using these crimpers, you will want to watch some instructional videos online. On paper, assembling these connectors is much simpler than ethernet cables (which many of us have done) but do not be deceived - these are a bit more nuanced and require some careful attention around a few key areas. Online instructions will help, but expect some trial and error. The details I outlined here are what helped me most when I was struggling with dupont wires. Just remember to put the force on the lowest setting, and allow about 1mm of clearance between the terminal and the flush side of the teeth. Solid construction and feels good to use. Took a bit to get the hang of, and I started to wonder if there's an even better crimper for dupont wires, but no longer feel the need to keep searching after getting the technique sorted out. I am on a streak of six successful crimps in a row as I type this.
