Best compass
I got this after watching a forward observer using one, have to say short of prismatic this is probably the best compass I’ve owned to date, not only is more sturdy for the average soldier, it’s also packed with features you’d want in a military compass that doesn’t come with the standard silva compasses, even the little lanyard is use full with various map size distances on it, any squads looking at this should be willing to swallow the price as it is a decent purchase and well worth the price.

At first look, it's more than an ordinary compass
You'd be right. Does everything a compass does, but better. Measures better. The bits that need to glows better at night...Would recommend to someone who really needs to know where they are.

reliability
Already used after having received this a week ago, for orienteering in the mountains in foul weather. Having bought two Suunto compasses with both suffering the same issue of no fluid. I have bought three Silva compasses and the differences and night and day. The feel of quality is vastly superior and dampening action is perfect. The ability to read in the dark is also perfect and the bezel movement is perfect.On this particular model the scales are very readable and the neck cord has scales on it to measure longer routes. Good thinking by Silva. In comparison my Suunto's were supplied sealed without fluid and I received zero help from the manufacturer. I'll be sticking with Silva from now on.
