POCKETBOOK 'Touch Lux 4' e-Book Reader Black

Firstly let me say that since the Kindle Keyboard I have struggled for a couple of years with modern ereaders due to fracture in wrist and medical plate put in which hinders some movements. It makes it hard for me to just touch right side with thumb and I get a lot of pain. I have tried the voyage and the oasis as I prefer page turn buttons as well as touchpads so I can use either hand, but neither worked for me. I have a Paperwhite. I also I bought a Bookeen reader with side page turn buttons and have been very pleased with it up until now but wanted a more up to date reader. I have been looking at Pocketbooks for about a year now and finally decided to buy one when price was reduced. PROS: Easy to use. Page turn buttons at bottom mean easy holding for me and I can page turn with left hand when right hurts. Pocketbook recognises up to 17 different types of media files so it's easy to read pdfs, epubs etc without conversion. Menus are easy to find by scrolling either up or down. I can use the page turns or touch or swiping up and down with this erader. oh and it's got a 'Pinch' action on the screen to move and enlarge and shrink things. A slight tap in centre of screen gives reading options eg font sizes really easily. Reader takes micro memory card so more available for entire library collections. Book comes pre-loaded with loads of books, mainly classics. Lots more functions than the kindle range, for example ereader has games on it, a better browser, notepad , Dropbox facilities and is able to upload via email if needed. CONS: For some people, the ability to have instant downloads from amazon means they will need a kindle. I am able to use amazon's " download via usb" facility with every book I buy as I also have a kindle where the books are sent automatically. I use Calibre software to download books to and then convert books to epub or mobis to read. This might be a problem to people not familiar with non amazon products and Calibre. If you buy books from Google or other websites it very easy to put media on the Pocketbook and you won't need Calibre. Overall for me this has turned out to be an ideal solution as I have an ereader which stops my hand pain and I use Calibre for transferring books anyway. Best thing I have bought this year and boy is my wrist loving the lightness of the Pocketbook compared to the paperwhite!

It is really easy to work with it and you have everything for good price. It is easy to attach books and have a lot of choices for them format. Battery life is 3 weeks of everyday using. I don’t like the touch technology only, it is not calibrated well but otherwise I love to use it at all

I was looking for such a reader and he did not disappoint me. I would highly recommend

I am so glad I bought this! Very light, comfortable and easy to use

I wanted to like this ereader so badly... I have been using kobo for years, but as I read mostly classics, I wanted an ereader where I could transfer free books from Gutenberg project easily (which isn't the case for neither Kobo nor Kindle). I opened this box on the 25th. I had time to read one book. It didn't leave the house, it spent all of its time in my couch. One week later I felt in my fingers a strange texture, and that's when I saw the back of the ereader... There is air between the outer layer of plastic and the device, that's why it looks like it does. When I asked Amazon for help they directed me to the Pocketbook company because of the warranty. When I contacted Pocketbook, they told me to go and fix the device. I told them I don't want this item anymore, it;'s not acceptable to spend this amount of money for something that lasted one week... I already spent more than one hour trying to fix this, I don't want to spend more time on something that is clearly made from cheap materials. I still don't know how this is going to end, but I am never going to sepnd money on a pocketbook again.

Very compact and lightweight. It is lovely.

Ich habe den Reader Pocketbook Touch Lux 4 erworben (vorher Sony und Tolino Reader im Einsatz) und bin sehr zufrieden mit: - Display (gut ausgeleuchtet, schmaler Rand oben, links und rechts; reagiert gut, Schriftbild sehr gut einstellbar) - Anschlussbuchse USB ist offen, zum Laden oder E-Books aufspielen muss keine Schutzkappe entfernt werden - Einstellungsmöglichkeiten sind sehr gut, sogar Randabstand vom Text ist einstellbar - offen bei Formaten (alle bisherigen Bücher ohne Probleme genommen) - deutlich leichter als die Vorgängermodelle von Sony und Tolino - Tools wie Kalender, Schachspiel usw. an "Board", vielleicht für einen Urlaub ganz nett - Einrichtung WLAN auf Anhieb funktioniert und bis jetzt auch stabile Verbindung Was mir missfällt: - die Anordnung der Tasten unten aus meiner Sicht nicht ideal: Die Blättertasten links und rechts sind in der Mitte und nicht außen (beim Lesen wäre das deutlich sinnvoller, da die Daumen dann besser aufliegen als mittig eng beinander). Hier wäre ein Softwareupdate schön mit freier Zuordnung der Tasten (die eingravierten Symbole sind kaum sichtbar, wäre also für mich kein Problem die Tasten neu zuzuordnen) - unverständlich: rechts auf dem Bildschirm per Touch weiterblättern, aber links nicht zurück...???? - Bei Lieferung hatte ich dutzende ausländische Bücher drauf (Czechien, Russland usw.) Das Löschen war zeitaufwendig, da die Übersicht der Bilbiothek bei vielen Büchern nicht die schnellste ist - Powertaste unten rechts Beim Tolino 4 HD hatte ich sehr schnell einen Glasbruch (in vielen Foren mittlerweile nachzulesen, obwohl der Reader pfleglich behandelt wurde). Garantie wurde abgelehnt, daher jetzt mit dem Pocketbook einen sehr guten Nachfolger gefunden und kann ihn nur empfehlen (bin Vielleser und benutze ihn fast täglich). Nachtrag 22.03.2019: ------------------------- Ich benutze den Reader sehr oft und mittlerweile auch auf Reisen. Ich bin super zufrieden und würde den Reader sofort wieder kaufen, wenn er kaputt gehen sollte. Ich hatte von Karl May mir die gesammelten Werke geholt (34.500 Seiten!!!) und auch das meistert der Reader mit Bravour. Hatte vorher Bedenken wegen Umblättern usw., aber absolut kein Problem. Sehr gut! Nachtrag 21.05.2019: ------------------------- Laut Hersteller geht das rückwärtsblättern rechts und links jeweils im unteren Bereich (ca. 25% von der Panelhöhe). Darüber ist dann wieder rechts und links das vorwärtsblättern (ca. 75% der Panelhöhe). Das ist ungewohnt, funktioniert aber tatsächlich. Das Umprogrammieren der Tasten wie vom Hersteller angegeben kann ich in meinem Menü nicht finden; benutze mittlerweile eben die beiden mittleren Tasten und komme damit auch gut klar. Bald geht es in den Urlaub und der Reader ist schon geladen und mit neuen Büchern versorgt. Sehr gutes Teil!

Buen tamaño, es cómodo para utilizar con una sola mano. El uso es muy intuitivo. Me encanta que puedes pasar páginas con la pantalla táctil o con los botones de abajo.

Mah...sembra nuovo. Funziona perfettamente e mi rendo conto di quanto avanti sia andata PB dopo il mio ultimo acquisto risalente a 5 anni fa. L'ultimo reader dell'azienda con espansione SD, agguantato per questo. Sono reader che adoro, anche se protesto con l'azienda che non mi consente di cambiare la batteria da un mio tecnico. Sono reader liberi per dire sistemi aperti, con mille formati. In questo hanno tolto funzionalità che avevo sull'Ultra ma non usavo mai, quindi poco male. Sono leggeri, solidi. I caratteri sono ben definiti, selezionabili. La luce integrata è ben diffusa e potente al bisogno. Vorrei che vendessero non solo custodie ma anche batterie e parti usurabili, sarebbero la perfezione. Lo consiglio in rapporto al prezzo/qualità. Eccoci dopo alcuni controlli da cui si evince che il reader è stato inizializzato nel dicembre dello scorso anno, il precedente possessore era di lingua tedesca e aveva una trentina di libri e altrettanti magazine. L'ha usato per pochissimo perciò ricaricato la batteria poche volte, poi il reader è stato reso, resettato e messo in vendita; quindi: il prodotto proviene dalla Germania, tenuto benissimo, i prodotti ricondizionati in questi termini sono un buon affare

Sólo me ha dado alegrías, exceptuando la precisión de la pantalla táctil a la hora de seleccionar por ejemplo los números que llevan a una nota al final del libro: ya ni lo intento, a veces funciona bien pero en general es imposible, no atina. No descarto que sea problema de los diferentes archivos epub y no del lector como tal, pero quiero dejar constancia porque es muy habitual. Por lo demás me parece una maravilla: lectura cómoda y ágil, no tarda nada en cargar las páginas (una vez que se ha encendido, al principio hay que dejarle unos segundos que se organice antes de ponerse a consultar la biblioteca o cosas así) y la luz de fondo cumple sobradamente su función sin cansar los ojos en ningún momento. La función de notas me da la vida, subrayo mucho contenido en cada libro que luego puedo ojear de un vistazo en un sólo apartado. Batería infinita.

Ich mag mein Pocketbook total! Endlich kann ich die ewige Einschlafbegleitung meiner Tochter wenigstens mit Lesen nutzen. Durch die Displaybeleuchtung kann man auch im dunkeln prima lesen. Obwohl ich mir fast noch ein, zwei niedrigere Stufen gewünscht hätte, auch die niedrigste Stufe finde ich etwas hell. Der Reader lässt sich gut benutzen, ich finde es vor allem praktisch, dass man sowohl über die Tasten als auch über den Touchscreen blättern kann. Das Display reagiert natürlich recht langsam im Vergleich zu einem Smartphone, aber soweit ich weiß, ist das ja bei E-Ink immer so, habe allerdings keinen Vergleich, da dies mein erster Reader ist. Beim Lesen stört das gar nicht, da reagiert es recht schnell, nur beim Navigieren im Menü muss man manchmal etwas warten. Der Akku hält auch sehr lang, was wirklich angenehm ist. Bei meinem ersten Gerät ging das Gerät mehrmals schon aus, obwohl das Gerät noch 30% anzeigte. Ich habe es bei Amazon reklamiert und sofort Ersatz bekommen und bei diesem Gerät besteht das Problem auch nicht. Wie das mit der Pocketcloud und so funktioniert, habe ich nicht so ganz verstanden, brauche das aber auch nicht und nutze es deshalb nicht. Ich ziehe die Bücher einfach immer übers Kabel vom Laptop auf den Reader, das geht ohne Probleme. Was auch klasse ist, ist die Möglichkeit, Bücher aus der Onleihe zu lesen. Das war mir auch sehr wichtig. Es ist leider extrem ätzend, sich auf dem Reader bei der Onleihe anzumelden, auch weil die Onleihe-Seite total umständlich ist und dann gepaart mit der langen Reaktionszeit des eInk-Displays ist das Navigieren und die Passworteingabe schon eine ziemliche Geduldsprobe. Man kann dann aber direkt auf der Onleihe-Seite die geliehenen Bücher runterladen und sofort loslesen, das klappt prima. Ich fänd es trotzdem super praktisch, wenn es eine App oder so dafür gäbe, aber das liegt sicherlich mehr an Onleihe als am Pocketbook. Ich würde den Reader auf jeden Fall nochmal kaufen, bin wirklich sehr zufrieden damit! Ach ja, und die Farbe Emerald ist einfach der Knaller :D
