Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Juju is the fourth studio album by British goth/new wave/rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was recorded at Surrey Sound studio with Nigel Gray as co-producer, and was originally released on 6 June 1981 by record label Polydor. Two singles were released from Juju: "Spellbound" and "Arabian Knights". The album was commercially successful in the UK. It was acclaimed by critics upon it's release, with praise given particularly to John McGeoch's unconventional guitar playing and Siouxsie's vocal performances. It remains a critical favorite and is seen as a landmark album of post-punk. After the slightly electronic bent of their previous album, 1980's Kaleidoscope, Siouxsie and the Banshees returned to a guitar-based sound for Juju, due to the presence of now-official guitarist McGeoch. The album also prominently featured the intricate percussion work of band member Budgie. Review: it really is classic - This is in my opinion is the band's darkest, most gloomy, and "goth" like album. There is an atmosphere found throughout the entire album that just sets this tone of an eerie craziness. The first 2 songs aren't as much like that but with no warning that vibe just creeps up out of nowhere. Siouxsie is extremely energized on here going from singing beautifully to screaming/ranting. The punk influence of the past resurfaces here but there is an off-beat melody factor to almost every song. Some of the songs will have that abrasive punk guitar or pounding rhythm but the way Siouxsie sings or articulates will still make it catchy in a very strange way. What makes this so special is that the whole album flows perfectly and it's quality never lets up; every song is good whether it's more accessible or if it's an off-beat experimental post-punk number. It's definitely up there with the best of the band's albums. Bottom line: If you're a Siouxsie and the Banshees fan already, you really should own this. If you're just getting into them, this would be a good album to start on to see how they sounded in their early years or buy one of their singles compilations (Once Upon A Time/Twice Upon A Time). Review: Great early era Siouxsie - Great early Siouxsie album, one of their best from this era

Dark Majestic Classic
Dark, very creepy and twisted guitar rock album with lots of musical highlights (Night Shift, Halloween, Sin in My Heart, Monitor, Spellbound, Voodoo Dolly). Definitely a highlight of the Banshees catalog and certainly a Goth music touchstone--although they'd hate the Goth label. The band (Severin, Clarke, and McGeoch) were in great instrumental form, with guitarist of the moment McGeoch making a particularly striking contribution to the sound. McGeoch's guitar work and Clarke's tribal drumming are particularly striking here. As for the vocals, Siouxsie was much less "tuneless" in her singing than on some of their earlier more punk albums, which is a good thing. This album is absolutely majestic in its darkness. Just take a listen to Night Shift, the centerpiece song of the album, for a hint of the creepy, majestic darkness here. This album is worth a serious listen for post-punk, alternative rock, and, yes, 80s-era Goth music fans. If you only know them from their later more pop music-oriented songs like Kiss Them For Me or even Peekaboo, this album will be quite a nice big dark surprise.

A Perfect Album
I wish I could give this 6 stars. It's def 5+ stars. This is a perfect album. I wouldn't recommend it for a first time Siouxsie fan looking for a couple of things to buy. This is an acquired taste, to be sure. As far as I know most Siouxsie fans rank this at the top or right up there in the top 3. If you are looking for something to buy to get to know Siouxsie then check out A Kiss In The Dreamhouse; Tinderbox or Twice Upon A Time: The Singles.

Their Strongest Album
My favorite Banshees album of all time. Dark, haunting and beautiful. Everything I've ever wanted from a Siouxsie & The Banshees album. I throw this album on when Autumn arrives, the nights get chilly and the leaves on the trees begin to change color. A must have for Banshee fans.

Elegantly wild, perverse and gorgeous.
A zillion years later this album still thrills me and it isn't nostalgia. I would love it if I heard it for the first time today. One of several peaks in a brilliant discography.

GENIAL !!!!!
Compralo y no te arrepentiras.
