A useful and dependable microwave. This is the third one we have bought over the years, the last one in 2019. They last about 6 years and that's with a lot of daily use. I have noticed the latest version is a tiny bit smaller on the outside and a little quieter. It's nice to see that Emerson has continued to improve an older product. The price is still great too. This microwave does everything a basic microwave should do and does it well. I think it punches a little above its weight and is a real bargain. They have added a child safety lock, but we don't have children, so we haven't tried it. We use it mostly for sides, frozen dinners, and leftovers. Be aware that, being a smallish model, it will not fit the largest of plates. It will cook an individual frozen entree in 6 or 7 minutes, a bowl of instant oatmeal in 2, and at 700 watts you shouldn't have to worry about tripping a circuit breaker. It comes with the usual rotating platter that can be removed for cleaning. The basic controls are easy to use, 1 - 6 minutes just by pressing the corresponding number and also has a thirty second setting when you only press start. It's a good machine.

I bought this microwave for my office and it’s been great. It’s small, but mighty - I’ve made several different meals in it without any issues. Everything heats evenly, just a little slower than a full-size microwave, which is expected. The tallest thing I can fit inside is an Uncle Ben’s 90-second rice bag. I usually add about 30 extra seconds to whatever time the package recommends, but that’s not a problem - I can be patient 😄 The price has been well worth the added value of having this convenience for the past few months!

I've had this little microwave oven for about a month now, and it works great. I'm really writing, however, to let others know what it replaced. Other than white color previously, this black oven replaced an identical one that lasted over 16 years. I think it is remarkable that a small appliance had the capability to function for 16 years. I did not even consider another brand. I wanted what I had, and I was able to get it here for about $80. Sixteen years ago I paid around $70. Not bad at all. My hope is that I will be able to keep this oven for years. It is wonderful for small spaces and for people who can be happy with 700 watts. Update: This second microwave lasted 3 years. Had I been more diligent about cleaning the inside, I think it would have lasted much longer. With lack of attention, the bottom became rusty. It didn't stop working, but I was concerned about safety and smell. I have replaced it about 2 months ago now. The new one is doing great, and I have committed to taking much better care. I disabled the child lock with a little effort and am enjoying using it almost every day, my usual use. There have been some complaints in reviews about the door breaking. I think that because the oven is fairly lightweight, it doesn't tolerate having the door pulled on, even a little. I have always put my left thumb on the panel while opening the door with left fingers and have never had a problem with the door coming loose. Maybe others can give that a try. I love this oven and hope I'll get it to last for years like the first one.

I ordered the microwave for a small rental house. Purchase it in April while remodeling. It did not go into use until mid June. It worked fine for approximately 6 weeks. One morning upon opening the door, the entire inside door panel pulled off and latches would not close or catch. I couldn’t see anyway to fix it so I contacted the manufacture through Amazon as the return time had expired. The manufacturer never contacted me back. Thankfully Amazon did remedy the situation. Customer service through Emerson was nonexistent. I do not recommend this product.

It is smaller than what I had but getting use to it. Doesn’t heat up items like my other one but it was larger. For just me this one works just fine. For a larger family this would not be wise. But like it and the safety lock feature is great. I also like when the beep goes off that after a few seconds later another beeper lets you know that you still have something in the microwave. This helps me out as sometimes I forget. Would recommend to those wanting to down size.

I recently downsized to a much smaller home. My kitchen has very limited counter space so I wanted a microwave that wouldn’t take up too much room. I can honestly say this microwave works better than the large one I left behind. I was afraid it would take longer to cook everything but it actually cooks faster! It melted half a stick of butter in 20 seconds. I was expecting to have to do several 20 second times but the butter was almost completely melted in the 20 seconds and it was hot enough to finish melting without needing to be nuked again. This microwave looks nice, is easy to clean and works very well. I recommend!

I bought this microwave as a replacement for the Emerson microwave I have been using for twenty years or more! That one's electronics finally gave out, but I wanted another Emerson. I did not want one with all the complicated air fryer, convection, I'll-even-do-the-dishes features. The more complicated a thing is, the easier it is to break. So far, I am happy with my choice. The only down side is that the printing on the control panel membrane is difficult to see. At least it is for my 67 year old eyes. This one puts out half as many watts of power as the bigger Emerson it replaced, but by adjusting my cooking times it works just as well. It is a small microwave, so don't think you'll cook a turkey in here. but the interior design is such that it maximizes the amount of room for things to spin as they cook. The instant cook buttons are handy. Want to warm something for 2 minutes, just press the 2, without pressing anything else first, and the oven will run at full power for 2 minutes. The 1 through 6 buttons are set up this way. Or you can program it to cook for a specific time, like 1½ minutes at full power or at a lower power by using the Power button. The manual is pretty clear in its instruction, so it took me only a few minutes to learn the functions I use all the time. I doubt this one will also last me 20 years, but I'm hoping Emerson Electric has provided another sturdy appliance.

My previous microwave went kaput after we had a lovely 9 year run together. I wasn't looking to spend too much on a new one, I really only use microwaves for maybe 5 things. I really wanted a red one to match my kitchen color theme, but those were all pretty pricey. Stumbled across this little guy and was intrigued. My old microwave was bigger, and took up a decent amount of counter space. I don't know much about watts and all that electrical mumbo-jumbo, all I knew was that my old microwave was 900 watts (honestly something I didn't even know until it died on me) and this was 700. This unit is definitely smaller, but I think that's a plus. Also, the plate and rotating round thingy inside my old one fits perfectly in the new one, so now I have a backup! The power level of this unit doesn't seem any different from the other one, honestly. At most, I've had to microwave something 15-30 seconds longer than before. Definitely a fan of this microwave, I love the durability and quality of Emerson brands, and I am sure it will last just as long as my previous one.
