Great for mass transit commuter safety
My ideal boot knife. The reduced weight means you can carry it comfortably anywhere on your body. Almost. The Kydex sheath is minimalist but works well, securely holding the blade in any position or activity. The open rivets allow you to wear it as you please by using the included length of paracord, or around your neck with the included ball chain. I prefer on my left forearm but the possibilities are far greater for more people, compared to a steel blade. Aside from the rivets holding the sheath together, there’s zero metal content in the knife itself. It’s as sharp as one can make autoclaved carbon fiber, which is to say “not very.” It keeps its tip well enough and the sharpened edge won’t let you down during mail call. To own, and daily carry, a fiber knife demands your full attention before leaving home with it. It won’t set off a metal detector, obvs, but it may or may not be visible to the microwave scanners that have mostly replaced them. This is due to its obvious shape being easily spotted with imaging systems. As such, you’ll have to remember NOT to pack it as you normally would if your day takes you through a “no weapons zone,” like a government building or airport. I’ve paid far more, and received far worse, in the past for a fiber knife. At this price it’s a steal (but not steel) 😜.
