Great picture, Better battery needed
Only down fall is the batteries have to be charged every three months so if you happen to be away, you have to get someone to charge them for them to work. The solar panels arenโt so great.. The picture is the greatest.

Requires subscription to view videos now
We have an older set of cameras that have a central hub that connects wirelessly to the internet. We didnt have to pay to see the videos and the recordings were available for 7 days. These dont allow ypu to see the recordings free for 7 days. It makes you have a subscription. Cheapest is 18 bucks a month if you pay 1 year in advance. The quality is great with the cameras and the batteries last decent time for now since aging batteries dont last as long and the batteries are not removable so you have to retrieve the camera if its in a higher area and a ladder is needed. Just things to consider. I would invest in the larger batteries of it were to buy more. They do have a nice spotlight that you can turn up or down the brightness. Good purchase in the end but with everything costing more these days it was another bill I wasnt anticipating. I should have read more into them.

Not Designed For Hot Attics
For my purposes, this not the camera. I did a Google search for the best cameras for spying on rodents in an attic and this was one of the top. Obviously the guy who made the recommendation was from a northern latitude as these are cameras are only designed for up to 104F/40C. In Texas, that is a summer OUTDOOR temperature; the attic can be 30-40 degrees hotter. So needless to say, these won't take a charge after only one season. In all fairness, I don't know if anyone makes a camera for such temperatures and if so, the power supply probably is not an onboard battery.

Theyre ok
I wasnt looking for fine detail, just general activity. These cameras do that just fine. The biggest fail with this system is the mount- I do not like the mounting, & prefer the magnet mount on the pro2. The mounts are too tedious to unclip, align, & adjust viewing area. Also I have connectivity issues after recharge. Once theyre connected, no problem.

Essential (with the SmartHub) is awesome if set up correctly.
Almost sent back!! These are excellent cameras "IF" set up correctly. Heads Up! Decide where you are going to mount them first. Then make sure you have the latest Arlo Secure App. Do each camera one at a time. When setting up the cameras on the app (have camera close to router) and when you get to the part of choosing your Internet Provider, choose,(Tap), your Provider, then TYPE in the Password for your ROUTER. Camera will recognize the Router and IT IS NOW PAIRED TO THE ROUTER. THIS STEP IS SO IMPORTANT. Then quickly go directly to where you are going to mount it and the camera will begin to start detecting the Router from where you are going to mount it. Once it goes GREEN for reading the Router (where you are mounting it) you are set - It Will Work. The camera and Router now know where each other are. We went thru 5 days of hell before we realized cameras were not reading or connected to the ROUTER. We clicked the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner on the app and clicked the minus mark for all 3 cameras (deleting them) and started all over. Now they are excellent. #1 camera is 50 ft from Router, #2 camera is 100ft from Router, and #3 camera is 200ft from Router all of them mounted outside and all of them working perfectly. We bought the black bird house covers for them and the black mounting brackets that they screw onto and they work amazingly. We also bought the SmartHub so it saves 5 days of videos without a subscription. We also have the original Arlo Pro (5 of them) and the Base Station all connected to the Router. And An Arlo Spotlight and Bridge for it. The Arlo Pros and the Essentials do not conflict with each other. Everything works Great. Good Luck
