Perfect for my 6yo and 3yo
So here’s what I did: I ordered this set and while the kids weren’t around I dumped all the rocks, fossils, etc into their sandbox and mixed them in. The next morning, I casually mentioned that I’d heard something digging in the sandbox during the night, and that they might want to go check it out. The 6yo said it was probably just the dogs, but the 3yo went to have a look and came back with a handful of gems. Oh boy it was ON after that! They both spent a solid hour digging, collecting, and sorting what they found and they keep going back. So far my 6yo has found 3 of the shark teeth and one of the geodes (his amazement when I told him to smash it open with a hammer, and when he saw what was inside!!!) and my 3yo has found an iridescent seashell and the arrowhead. They’ve both found an abundance of interesting stones, which my 6yo is now busily sorting into piles. Once they’ve got a solid collection I’m going to bring out the info sheet for them to see what they’ve got and learn the names. If I could just convey the excitement and the joy in our house this morning! This is the best $25 I’ve spent on my kids in a long time and I can’t recommend it enough! I love that it’s a mix of different colored stones, fossils, geodes, and that special arrowhead. Everything a kid could want!

Perfect for kids' first rock collection
First, I'd like to say that I sampled a few kids oriented rock collections. This one is by far my favorite. My kids found the cemented collections, glued on a page or in prelabeled plastic divided containers to be only momentarily interesting. Tumbled rocks or lab created pops of color felt too much like cheap toys. Better to have a pile to touch, explore, and play detective in identifying items. Perhaps we'll move on to single specimens that are larger- now that we have a Little Rock knowledge. I ordered two boxes for my two kids. Both arrived in two days. I was a bit worried at the small package, coming in at the size of a large pencil box. However after dumping the lot into a strainer for a quick rinse, things looked better. (Blue strainer picture has contents from one box) one boxes contents seemed noticeably smaller in all aspects: smaller geodes, 2 shark teeth (5 in the other), 1 arrowhead (2 in the other), and smaller rocks in about every category. However, even the smaller batch was a great deal in my opinion. The real test was the reception from my 1st and 4th graders: definite thumbs up! Although my 4th grader dismissed what we call "yard rocks" (cause we can find them in our backyard), my 1st grader loved and kept all of them. As you can see from the separated piles, the largest is the pile of 20-30 yard rocks. I would have preferred to pay the same price without that sort of filler. No biggee: the yard rocks are now in the yard. I'd say 70-80% of the rocks are smaller than a dime, but the variety and the remaining sizable rocks (1-2 " big) made up for things. See the photo of our favorites from both boxes. The shark teeth and arrowheads were a fun touch. Didn't see any fossils or fossil poo... perhaps I mixed up the product description when buying. My 1st grader love love loved the magnetic rock. My 4th grader went for the crystal and the "gold," of course. After reading the reviews, I was prepped for some big muscle, geode cracking action. The first tiniest geode was a tough nut, with no hollow. Perhaps that caused me to power up because the next three virtually shattered (even under my puny mom muscle). Still, the kids were happy and I managed two or three larger chunks for each kid. The geode pictures represent 2 cracked geodes. I'm the end, these boxes were the perfect size to start a rock collection. They fit quite well into some used wooden cigar boxes. The adventures in cracking and sorting prompted good science discussion and made their science teacher grandpa quite happy. I will definitely be looking to see what other products are offered and I highly recommend this product.

Really fantastic kit, fossils are especially neat!
I bought this as a Christmas present for my nephews, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for any little geologists in your lives. They fossils are easily the best part, but the quality and diversity of other rocks in the kit is also amazing. I would recommend getting your own magnifying glass, as the one provided came a bit scratched up. It is a children's toy, but it was essentially useless. other than that, we had such a good time matching the rocks to the chart, studying the different rocks' marks, colour, and character, and even got a rock and crystal identification book out and learned more about their structures. It was such a cool way to do something educational and also really, genuinely enjoyable. My nephews are five, for reference, but my niece, who is four, also joined in and was perhaps the most enthusiastic of the bunch.

May not have all that’s pictured.
This kit is SO cool, however way too many clear quartz tumbled and some stuff wasn’t here to identify: the fossils were amazing to look at and we are still pleased with our purchase.

Such an excitîng gift for a 9 year old !!!!
My grandson loves this kit. He is not quite 9! It’s challenging and fun with a chart and a booklet to guide and explain and also offer some history along with the science. So complete! It’s packaged very nicely ! So worth the money and makes a great gift!

Excellent collection, lots of variety, impressive fossils
Bought as an activity for me with my 13, 10, and 8 year old nieces/nephew. Tons of variety, a lot of pretty ones, some polished and some not. (Note, there are two different sets offered in this listing—I bought the larger set, 250 pieces.) We enjoyed matching up all the rocks with the chart. I think we found all of them. They were wanting to take their favorite rocks home, but I like the set too much to break it up. In other words, it's MINE! :) I was obsessed with rocks and fossils as a kid and this kit would have been a dream come true. There's an accompanying booklet that we ended up using quite a bit, especially to learn about the fossils (which were still in the taped-up box in this video). I read them the page about "coprolite"—which yes, is found in this box too—and the youngest thought that was absolutely hilarious. I was surprised to read that one of the fossils in the box is something that has been extinct for millions of years, wow! We took the two geodes out to the driveway, put each one in an old sock, and hit them with a hammer. One cracked easily and looked like we hoped inside, hollow-ish and sparkly. The other took awhile to crack and was just solid hard crystal inside, which was less exciting. But it's always a gamble with geodes. The extra pound of "small tumbled stones" adds some extra interest and gives you something to "dig through" if you mix all the stones together. (The ones that we matched with the chart are generally larger in size and nicer looking than the small tumbled stones.) We didn't have time to do the crystal growing kit. Excellent value! I will look at this company for future gifts!

Perfect for kids
Perfect! Exactly as advertised. I purchased this set for a family day event at work for the children of various ages to sift and dig for treasures. The accompanying information book as well as the sample identifying poster was a big help. The children found their treasure and were able to identify what they found and learn more about it. The adults joined in the fun as well. It was a big hit! I highly recommend the kit!

Ripped off
A box of dirt would have been more value.

Mejor de lo que me esperaba con peros
Aunque hay piedras tintadas, hay variedad pero toda no aparece en el papel donde deberían salir todas las que se incluyen... Un poco caro para lo que es.

Esattamente quello che mi aspettavo! Bellissimo
