Works like it should.

These work great for inexpensive ferro rods. My younger kids have a hard time getting a spark - it requires a fair bit of pressure to get a good spark. I don’t have any trouble though. Have started a dozen campfires with it and never had any issues. I keep it in a plastic bag with some cotton balls and a tube of petroleum jelly for tinder. Super easy to use it to start a campfire that way. All you need are a few small sticks to get a fire going.

The portability is amazing, aswell as the speed to start sparks is amazing, not to mention its really cheap as I use this for camping, the handle is also very soft to hold, this could be used for to start fires and warm an area up!

We went camping this week and learned how to light a fire from a state park team using only a flint and steel. Man, when I say it “lit a fire” in his heart, it’s totally intended as stated. He learned that the skillset is pretty easy to maneuver, it will be efficient for a long time, and they’re super durable! We are excited to use this for all of our campfire skills in the near future. Not sure I can wait until Christmas to give it to him. This will be his favorite gift for sure!
