The Small Size is Perfect Storage for a Day's Ride
As I take day rides on trails, or ride to the post office or coffee shop I wanted adequate storage that I could keep an eye on while riding (I have heard stories of seat bags failing without the riders knowledge). I also wanted storage for my cable lock, tools, and whatever without losing storage for my water bottle. After a lot of searching and research I decided on the Small Blackburn Frame Bag for my medium frame Giant Roam Bicycle. It is perfect! Expands so the coiled cable lock fits in, has a divider, and small left side compartment. It uses the space on my bike well without consuming it. The bag has multiple attachment points for straps and it came with three additional straps that I did not yet use. It seems durable and well constructed and it is not prone to bulging, which is huge for me. I don't want my legs rubbing against anything. This bag is narrow enough to avoid any rub, yet really large and accommodating for a small size bag. It is available in a medium or large if your bike or needs are different than mine. I am always willing to pay for quality, and though not cheap, the Blackburn Frame Bag it is well worth the moderate price. Its the only thing I could find outside of a custom made bag that did exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended.

Excellent, affordable frame bag.
I've only just installed this on my Specialized Crosstrail (XL frame), but the Large size is great, and fits the frame very well when opened all the way. The bag is of a higher quality than I expected, as are the zippers. Zippers seem weatherproofed/rubber-seamed. Nice long side access pocket on the left, large compartment opening on the right. Right side also has small stretchy outer stash pockets, might fit some small snacks. Inner compartment has a Velcro divider flap to loosely section/divide items top/bottom. I have a 3L water bladder, my bike lock, pump, and plenty of room for some other items like a battery pack, lights, etc. if needed. I primarily bought this to get the backpack (and water bladder) off my back, and it does the trick. See my photo showing the top-down view — no issues with the bag being too wide while riding, even with all that stuff crammed in there. The opening to allow cables or a drinking tube to exit the bag is nice, but it's angled in such a way (facing towards the rear) that the tube has to wind back and forth to exit. It works, but opening facing forward would work better I think. A very small complaint. I needed to buy an extension for my water bladder hose so it reached to a comfortable length to drink from while riding. Plenty of attachment loops on the bag, to use with reposition-able Velcro loops to attach to your frame as needed. Worked great for me. I had been unimpressed with any of the other reasonably-priced, non-custom frame bags available. I even looked into a custom frame bag. But for the price I paid for this, I am very happy with the bag and will definitely consider this Blackburn product line for future bag purchases if it holds up over time as I put it into actual use.

Fits great and holds more then you would think
I am so glad I purchased this bike frame bag. I hardly been searching for longer then I would like to admit for a frame bag for a new bike I purchased. I knew I wanted a frame bag that was large enough to hold 2 liters of water for long road/ gravel rides. This holds my 2 liter platypus water sack, as well as a light puffy jacket, few granola bars and my cell phone and bike tool in the side pouch. The side pouch is suitable for a phone, keys, etc. The main pouch is expandable ( I just leave it expanded) and has a divider. The whole bag is very durable, the zipper performs well and the installation was a breeze. Just make sure you measure your bike frame first, as it is crucial to obtaining the correct bag for your bike.

Great bag if it fits
I agonized over which frame bag to buy based on all the different brands and sizes available. I wanted a bag that would maximize my luggage carrying capacity in the open triangular space between my top tube and bottom of frame for long bike tours, so I purchased the Large Blackburn Outpost Frame Bag. When it arrived, I was initially disappointed because it seemed too small for my XL-size bike frame, and too large for my wife's small bike frame. When fully opened, the large bag extended all the way to the bottom of the seat tube on my wife's bike and interfered slightly with her chain sprocket. Rather than returning the bag, I put it on my XL-size frame (it was 5 inches above my chain sprocket when fully extended), packed it full, and took it on a long ride. Even though the bag was slightly smaller than I wanted, I was very impressed with its stability and sturdiness so I'm going to keep it for bike touring and every-day use. For the large bag, you need at least 19 inches of space from your seat tube extending along the bottom of your top tube towards the front of the bike. The front of the bag then drops straight down approximately 3 inches in its front so you need to make sure you have at least 3 inches of space between your top tube and the bar that comes up from the bottom towards the front of the bike where the front of your bag is going to be. The large bag when fully opened extends approximately 10.5 inches down along the seat tube, so make sure you have at least 10.5 inches of space along the seat tube between your top tube and the top of your chain. The width of the bag seemed perfect. It was very close but didn't rub my legs when pedaling when it was completely full. I didn't purchase the medium sized bag but the website says the medium is 2 inches shorter in length than the large, so you probably need at least 17 inches of space extending from your seat tube along the bottom of your top tube towards the front of the bike to fit the medium bag, with all the other dimensions being the same as for the large bag. The Blackburn bag may not fit as well as more expensive customized-made bags, but the Blackburn costs a lot less, is very sturdy, and designed well. I haven't tried it in the rain, but would expect it to keep light rain out......but would put my precious belongings in a plastic bag inside if I encountered heavy downpours.

Excellent roomy frame bag
I started my search for frame bags when I wanted an alternative to carrying a water reservoir on my back for longer rides. I found the Medium Blackburn Outpost Bike Frame Bag to be the best solution. The mounting points are fairly easy to attach and hold the bag firmly in place. The mesh pocket on the side is great for storing in-ride snacks. The zippered side pouch was ample storage for necessities. The opening for the drinking tube was a major selling point--I bought a 1.5L AND a 3.0L water reservoir for both electrolyte and plain water. It was a bit of a squeeze, but both drinking tubes fit through the opening and I was able to carry almost 5L of water! The bag bulged a little when totally full, but did not interfere significantly with my riding in the saddle or while standing on the pedals. Be sure to secure all of the extra straps so it does not interfere with cabling, pedals or tires. It did not serve my solution when in the zippered/compact condition because I could not really access my water bottle cages (prompting the double reservoir solution). The picture shows measurements of my bike, so your results may vary. All in all, very well-made durable product. Definitely recommend!

Just as nice as the Apidura at half the price
I considered buying a more expensive frame bag made bu Apidura, Revelate or Ortlieb but decided to give this Blackburn Outpost bag a try first. I couldnt be more happy. The bag is well made and very functional. The mesh side pockets are handy for gels or snacks and the hydration bladder pass through works very well for not only your drink tube but also for running cables through. I keep a battery pack in my bag and have used it to charge my phone and to power my headlight/tailight. The slim left side pocket is perfect for your wallet and phone while the main compartment easily holds all the larger stuff. I've packed it with my lunch, a small 1 liter bladder, a frame pump and my battery pack and still had room for more. The medium is best for smaller frames. It fits like it was custom made for my 52cm road bike. Its also slim enough that I don't notice it while riding. I had previously used a Topeak top tube bag and it was in the way when I would stand over the bike and my knees hit it while sprinting. The bag does interfere with the water bottle cages. I mounted the downtube cage lower on the frame using its bottom screw boss and a velcro strap.

Quality for the price, form and function on-point
I love this bag. For the price its very sturdy and accomodating. The bungie flaps on the side work great for my wallet and phone when I dont have it mounted to my handlebar. I replaced the velcro and tension straps that came with it and now attach the bag to my frame using 3 bungie cords of correlating colors to lace the bag and hold it there a little more evenly. Theres a matching top tube bag and also a rolltop/dryroll saddlebag that blackburn sells that matches this as well. The expansion feature works well and theres a velcro middle section that functions as a shelf within the bag. Easily carries several tubes, a pump, a wallet sized first aid kit, my lock and chain, and a few other tools with room to spare. Also the zippers open from the front to the back in case you should need to run a wire from a portable battery in your framebag to your phone/headlight/etc on your handlebar.

Durable, useful and easy to use.
I've been using this bag on my commuter for a couple months now, and I absolutely love it. The stock velcro attachment system was just okay, and I preferred to zip tie my bag to my frame, as you can see from my picture. Because this bag has so many attachment points it is held very securely within my frame this way. The construction of this bag feels durable, and after months of use it shows very little sign of wear. Having the option to expand and collapse the bag has also come in very handy, especially since it takes less than 30 seconds to make the switch. The design of the pockets is perfect for my uses: -One zipper on the right opens large central space. -Left side zipper opens thin but long pocket. -Two external right side stretchable pouches. The removable velcro interior "brace" keeps the bag from bulging out of the sides, and this works well to keep the bag away from my knees. Absolutely looking forward to getting my hands on more bags from this Blackburn line!

Integral part of touring setup.
Just finished a tour of the Baja with this frame bag as part of my bike touring setup. Excellent quality, fit and usefulness. I was actually surprised at how good this piece was. It's just under 7 litres when expanded, and although not a huge amount of space, it took all of my t-shirts and soft items, freeing up space elsewhere. It became an integral part of the set up and I'll be using this for years to come on future rides. There have been some reviews stating it is not the actual size of 19.5". This is true as I measure 18.75". This is not a problem as far as form or function is concerned IMO.

Praktisches Raumwunder

Great way to store your bike chain and phone
Bought this bag as a place to store my bike chain as it is heavy duty and quite bulky. The bag fits it no problem and also has great side pocket for your mobile phone, keys etc. I bought the 20" version which fits perfectly in my Trek Allante+ frame. Recommended!
