Would this product uphold the wear and tear of a 2" duty belt?

I think it would, it's very sturdy. The only issue I see would be the loss of the screwdriver bits.

How does this compare to Leatherman Wave in terms of function and durability?

I’ve had both. This is larger than the Leatherman, but feels more solid and has more options and tools. If size and weight matter to you, go with the Leatherman. It’s a good tool. If you want more options and, maybe, more durability buy the Avid.

Question on this, how do you open the side thing that you can put on different tips? I push the red button, lots of resistance?

Push the slider with a small arrow towards the tip. It may be a little stiff. The bits are held in by magnets. By the way, on mine, the slider is black, not red.
