This will be the same review as I have on the other SmartLife AP products I bought. My house is all automated, most of which had been with Leviton or GE Z-wave plugs and switches. They were difficult to install, and many broke down after a year. These were fantastic. They are super easy to install, from the electrical connections to the wall plate. They look slick, and I love the one touch operation. The SmartLife AP's add new device was the best I've used and never failed to quickly find and set up the device. Alexa integration and functionality was also extremely easy and everything works great! Highly recommended for the Alexa Smart home fanatics like me.

There are so many smart switches and plugs to choose from it can be a gamble that you get something that works. I used these in my basement to replace a 2-gang set of light switches.Everything worked great and worked the first time, I didn't even read the manual :) The Smart Life mobile application and Alexa skill worked together flawlessly which is really something these days. I was able to group my lights together so I can switch all basement lights on/off with one voice command. I did note the 2.4ghz wireless requirement and so only tried to connect it to that Wifi in my house.Installation was pretty easy but a little tight, that's always going to be the case. If your house is wired correctly you'll have a bunch of neutral wires in the electrical box, since these have a thicker back it's a squeeze but just fine. Not much you can do about it. The only thing I didn't like was you have to screw in the wires vs the more secure push to lock found on most switches.Overall just great, super happy and just ordered 5 more :)

I bought a group of these for my first move into smart home devices and once installed they worked very well, no complaints there. They linked up to Smart Life, Alexa, and Smartthings without any issue.However, the housing is a little weak. I found with a tight electrical box the screws bore through and stripped out the placement in the housing (trying to write this review without innuendo is difficult, btw). I had to toss 3 switches due to this problem, I have one more where one of the housing has the issue with stripping but I might be able to utilize it. We shall see, but I don't have a lot of hope for it. Otherwise I have 13 installed and 4 more waiting to be put in, they're working . If you're looking to purchase these, I'd say be careful when during the final install.Also, buy different wall plates. I started using these: ENERLITES Screwless Decorator Wall Plates. These are much easier to use than the wall plates that come with these switches. But that's just a nitpick on my part, they still function well enough.

I am not an electrician - but I can follow directions. That being said - read and REread the directions a few times. I initially missed where it said to switch two wires and, when the new switches didn't work, I spent an extra 15 minutes racking my brain, googling, and trying to figure it out - then after rereading, taking it apart and fixing my mistake! Also, if this isn't an initial install and that you replacing current switches, go out and get a couple of the bigger wire caps. There were white wires inside my elec box, but they were just capped off (not attached to my previous switches). When I went to add the two white wires from the switches, the included wire caps and the 1 wire cap already in the box were too small and I cursed (a lot). Then I went to the hardware store and picked up some bigger sizes.We were already using the Smart Life app for some smart plugs, so we already had it synced up with our Amazon Alexa. But, if you don't already have it synced, it's pretty easy. First off, you'll need to set up your switches with Smart Life (see additional side note below) to attach it to your wi-fi. Once it is connected there, which takes all of 5ish minutes, max! Go to your Alexa app. Under the "More" tab, look for "Skills & Games". Search for "Smart Life" and enable it. It will show up some weird/generic name and you can rename it. You will need to name both switches, since they are two separate switches, just one faceplate/cover.Additional side note about the Smart Life app - while I do not spend really any time in this app, except the initial set up of a new device (choosing to use Alexa for everything else), it has an awesome feature to set up designated times for the switch to be on/off. So, for these two switches, one is used for lights inside my garage; the other is used for lights outside, on the driveway. In this app, I have the outside light switch set up on a timer. It goes on at 5:30 pm and turns off at 7 am, automatically. I have another set of switches I'm going to put in for my porch light and post light for the same purpose. There may be a way to accomplish this in the Alexa app; but it was so easy to just do it in the Smart Life app.Without the internet/wi-fi, you can still turn the lights on and off at the switch. You do not even need to have Alexa to use these switches. You can just use the Smart Life app. But you won't be able to verbalize on/off. I think other reviews have said they use Google Home.
