last with the king
Victory was The Jacksons 5th album for Epic records. Originally released in 1984 this is the last of the classic jacksons albums. This came out 1 year after the mayhem which ensued the "Thriller" album and it was not known if Michael would re-team with his brothers for another album, fortunately he did and although this isnt as good as the previous jacksons album "Triumph" it's still a strong album. The main differnce with this album against the other Jacksons albums is this is the first album since the motown days that jermaine Jackson has been on. After leaving motown as a solo artist in 1982,jermaine was free to rejoin his brothers on the Epic label,so this is infact the jackson 6 if you will as younger brother Randy who replaced jermaine in the group is still present.Victory takes on a slightly more pop feel than their previous albums which is a disappointment but the album does grow on you quite a bit and it also has a couple of jackson classics on. The boys again share songwriting duties between themselves but unlike the previous albums where michael wrote or co-wrote the bulk of material,it only features 2 michael compostions in the songs "Be not always" a rather tepid-dull ballad which is the albums biggest disappointment and first single "state of shock ft mick jagger..again a rather disappointing track. The best tracks are the killer "Torture" written by the underated jackie jackson and randy jacksons penned "one more chance" an amazing ballad..this track was covered 10 yrs later by sister janet! the other good tracks are the toto penned "Wait" and marlon jacksons "Body"..the other tracks are ok but not amazing. This was to be the last of the jacksons albums for some 5 years or so before they reunited in 89 for the "2300 jackson st" album which flopped and only had michael briefly on 1 track. Of course michale became the biggest star on the planet ad the boys would not record again which is a shame as they are talented guys too.

The album is a great addition to for anyJackson
This is one of them albums that kind of grows on you the more you listen to it. It is not usual Jacksons style, and each of the brothers take turnson giving us, the listener, a different musical direction with each track. Look out for Michaels song "State of Shock" featuring Mick Jagger. The album is a great addition to for anyJackson fan

Okay
I only like one song on the whole album, the pretty obvious State of Shock single. Wasn't impressed with this album and what it had to offer but i'm sure most MJ or Jacksons fans will completely disregard this and buy it anyway!
