Perfect little drive for 3D printing and file transfers
This has been a really useful little drive for my 3D printing setup. I use it to move files between my computer, phone/tablet, and printer, and having both USB-C and USB-A on one drive makes it way more convenient. The 256GB capacity is plenty for print files, photos, videos, backups, and random project folders. It’s also small and easy to keep with my setup without taking up space. So far it has been reliable, and I haven’t had any issues with files transferring or the drive being recognized. The only thing I’d say is because it’s small, I’d keep it somewhere safe so it doesn’t get lost. Other than that, it’s a solid value and perfect if you need one drive that works with newer USB-C devices and regular USB-A ports too.

So Good I Bought 5 More (Even If the Police Kept the First One)
I purchased this flash drive specifically to submit dashcam footage to the local police for an investigation I was involved in. Given that they took the device to process into evidence—and I don’t foresee getting it back—the price point is absolutely perfect. The dual USB-C and USB-A flexibility is fantastic. It allowed me to easily download the files from my MacBook Pro, while ensuring the police had the USB-A compatibility needed for an older computer or a standard Windows setup. Honestly, the build quality feels like overkill for a "giveaway" drive, but I'm not complaining! In fact, I just ordered a four-pack of the 128GB version and another 64GB drive for future evidence submissions and personal file transfers. I also appreciate the integrated key ring loop at the top, which makes it easy to keep on a keychain. Overall, I’d give it an 9/10. It’s a high-quality, reliable drive whether you're handing it off to someone else or just keeping small files handy.

Convenient Dual USB Drive That Works Well, But 3.2 Speeds Could Be Better 👍
I purchased the Lexar D40E 256GB Dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type‑C Jump Drive and overall it performs as advertised. The dual connectors (USB-A and USB-C) make it very convenient to move files between newer devices and older computers without needing an adapter. The build quality feels solid, and it works immediately when plugged in with no setup required. Storage capacity is accurate, and for basic tasks like moving documents, photos, and small video files it works reliably. It’s a practical option if you need a simple drive that works with multiple device types. My only real complaint is the speed. Since it’s labeled USB 3.2 Gen 1, I expected slightly faster transfer rates. While it’s definitely quicker than an older USB 2.0 drive, the real-world speeds seem a bit underwhelming for the standard. It gets the job done, but it doesn’t fully feel like it’s taking advantage of the 3.2 capability. Overall, it’s a dependable and versatile flash drive that does what it promises, but if you’re specifically buying it for maximum USB 3.2 performance, you may find the speeds a little disappointing.

Versatile, Durable, and Perfect for the USB-C Transition
The Review: The Lexar D40E is a standout choice for anyone navigating the awkward "middle ground" between traditional USB-A ports and the newer USB-C standard. I’ve been using the 64GB version, and it has quickly become my go-to for moving files between my older desktop and my newer MacBook and iPad. What I Liked: Dual Connectivity: The ability to flip between Type-A and Type-C without needing a dongle is a massive workflow win. Build Quality: The Titanium Grey metal housing doesn't just look premium; it feels incredibly rugged. The swivel design is snappy and protects the connectors well when tossed into a pocket or bag. Performance: For a Jump Drive, the USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds are reliable. I didn't experience any significant thermal throttling during large file transfers, which is a common issue with smaller plastic drives. Form Factor: It’s compact enough to stay on a keychain without being bulky, yet the metal finish makes it easy to grip. Small Trade-offs: While it isn't the fastest SSD-grade thumb drive on the market, for everyday document transfers, photo backups, and quick file sharing, it hits the "sweet spot" of price and performance. Bottom Line: If you want a sleek, "future-proof" drive that feels like it can survive a few drops, this Lexar model is a no-brainer.

Perfect Dual-Connector Solution - Fast, Reliable Cross-Device File Transfer
I picked up this Lexar dual USB drive to simplify file transfers between my phone, tablet, and computer, and it has been an absolute game-changer for my workflow. The dual connector design with both USB-C and traditional USB-A means I can use it with virtually any device without needing adapters or dongles. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds are noticeably fast - moving large photo and video files that used to take forever now happens in seconds. The 128GB capacity gives me plenty of room to keep important files, backups, and media readily accessible without worrying about running out of space. The metal housing feels premium and durable, and the swivel design protects both connectors when not in use while keeping the form factor compact enough to stay on my keychain. The champagne silver finish looks sleek and professional, and the build quality is exactly what I expect from Lexar. I've been using this drive daily for months now, swapping files between my MacBook, Android phone, and iPad, and it has performed flawlessly every time. The swivel mechanism is smooth and feels like it will last for years of regular use. Having instant access to my files across all my devices without relying on cloud storage or internet connectivity has been incredibly convenient, especially when traveling or working in areas with spotty wifi. The drive runs cool even during extended file transfers, and I've had zero compatibility issues across different operating systems. For anyone who regularly moves files between USB-C and USB-A devices, this is an essential tool that eliminates so much frustration. ---

Excellent Value for a Dual USB Drive
Got it on sale for ~$25. The 128GB storage is amazing for that price, on top of being able to transfer any type of files between my devices from the dual USB C and USB A connectors. 100MB transfer speed isn’t bad at all and gets the job done. In terms of things I’ve noticed: it does get fairly hot when using, but nothing to burn your fingers. Plus, performance doesn't seem to be affected. I also cannot get the USB C to plug into my iPhone unless I take the case off, so beware of that.

Good dual design
UPDATE The dual USB-C and USB-A function was very convenient for scanning PDFs with my Canon imageCLASS MFC laser printer with a USB-A port and then transferring to Mac computers over USB-C. I always used the safe ejection feature on the scanner and my computers, but about 4 months into ownership, I began getting occasional corrupted PDF scans. I think it is a problem with the Canon. I reached out to Lexar support, who guided me through recovery tools for the drive. In the end, the issue resolved itself with another scan run on the Canon and use of the safe eject media button on the Canon scanner. I'm not sure if it is the drive or the scanner, but since I always immediately back up my files, I'm not that concerned. It is only annoying when I have scanned 100 pages, safely eject the media and there is no file and/or the PDF is corrupted. I will play around with different scenarios to see what triggers this. Pros: Small size, nice design Loop for attaching a lanyard Dual USB-A USB-C design Cons: No dust cap for USB ends May not be reliable/play well with Canon imageCLASS MFC scanner/laser printer
