Expensive but saves the cost of replacing a chain when it is not needed
The chain on my electric bike was "skipping" and I had read that the problem was probably due to a worn out chain. I tried an inexpensive "chain wear checker" and it seemed to agree. But replacing the chain is not cheap, so I decided to by the Park Tool Chain Wear Checker and found out my chain was OK. It turns out that I need to adjust my "indexing: for my rear derailleur. So this tool saved me the cost and time of replacing a chain that was was not worn out.

Park Tool CC-4.2 Bicycle Chain Wear Checker
The Park Tool CC-4.2 is an affordable, practical tool that belongs in every cyclist's toolbox. Because high-end bike components are expensive to replace, investing in proper maintenance tools is essential. The tool is easy to use and has no obvious downsides. With so many high-end components on the marketโsuch as the SRAM XG-1299 XX1 Eagle Cassette 12-Speed ($668.80), SRAM XX1 Eagle Chain 12-Speed, 126 Links, Copper (various colours) ($124.90), SRAM X01 Eagle Dub C3 Crankset, Speed: 11/12 ($549.00 โ $847.70)โthe importance of proper chain maintenance becomes clear. These components are prime examples of costly bike parts that can be protected through timely chain maintenance. Investing $36.08 in the Park Tool CC-4.2 Bicycle Chain Wear Checker can prevent premature wear and save you significant costs in the long run. When compared to other chain checkers on the marketโincluding models from SRAM, KMC, Wippermann, and Shimanoโthe Park Tool CC-4.2 offers greater compatibility and fewer limitations. Pros: Ease of use Cons: None that I can see at the moment
