Why is there some noise when using my pedal power supply?

Noise is usually from external factors: unclean power from shared outlets, nearby WiFi/phone interference, loose cables, or high-gain/digital pedals amplifying small signals. It’s rarely an issue with the power supply itself.

Can my power outlet or wiring cause pedal noise?

Yes. Old, unstable outlets or shared power strips with computers/lights create impure power. Moving pedals while powered can also loosen connections and cause mild current noise.

Does location affect power supply noise (commercial vs residential)?

Commercial areas often have complex 3-phase power, elevators, and servers that cause more ground interference. Residential areas have cleaner single-phase power but may still have minor noise from aging wiring.

Why do some pedals make more noise than others with the same power?
