The PEERS Curriculum for School-Based Professionals

Love this Curriculum. Lesson plans, discussions and follow-up assignments all included. It’s all guided. Definitely intended for those on The higher functioning end of the spectrum, but can definitely be modified.

This curriculum is really great. I have seen progress for my students on the autism spectrum. It helps students reach their goals and increase social skills.

Easy setup for classroom use! The book outlines lesson plans and generalization of social skills. I use this in a special education classroom.

After much grad school research, I found this to be the only treatment for adolescents with ASD that is backed by extensive research. I was so impressed after writing a report on treatment that I purchased the program! Beware of made-up programs that have not been tested. I think this program is more effective because it requires the student to engage in social interactions outside the group. Any school can do this!

As a school psychologist, I recommend this curriculum to school based mental health professionals. I utilize this book in collaboration with a Speech and Language Pathologist and incorporate Social Thinking practices. There are times when I have to modify, but the book lays down a great foundation.

This is a great program. We bought the book for my sons school after we took the program and the school is using the tools as part of their curriculum.

I had already used this book as part of a summer program for autistic teens in mainstream school. The language and ideas are very suited to American culture which made me think it would be a bit wooden in my context. But with very few changes to the buzzwords and with lots of focus on reward for trying the techniques, the youngsters have gelled and now make their own arrangements and plans to hang out together. None of them did this before. So I can wholeheartedly recommend this framework.

This is a great book and is already proving really helpful in my work. The reason this did not receive full stars is because it arrived damaged with a hole right through the front cover of the book. The packaging was entirely intact so this had clearly happened before it was posted. It doesn't affect the use of the book or the content but it is very disappointing considering I paid almost £40 for a product that has arrived damaged and looks terrible.
