Can I change the steel strap to a Casio leather strap?

I swapped the original steel wristband for a 20mm nato strap. There is a very slight gap, probably about one millimeter on each side.

whats the difference between this and the non EF model?

EF I believe stands for the illumination material of the the hands of a chronograph watch. Stock numbers on products normally describe products which they are assigned to. They are not random numbers, they are descriptions. I hope that helps.
