OK, so this might sound crazy:
I bought a new HE top-loading washer a few years ago and have fought with the water inlet valve endlessly. On my old Maytag the inlet valve could handle the little bit of sediment and/or filter sand that comes through the water line. Not so this new washer. It has very fine inlet screens that would clog constantly. So I bought 2 of these and installed them in the hot and cold water lines to filter out the fine sediment before it clogs the tiny inlet screens. Hooray! I don't have to repeatedly unscrew the washer hoses to clean those dang screens.

Poor quality
I bought this last year thinking I would use it this year and they wouldn’t get any cheaper. The irrigation water was turned on about a month ago. But it was raining regularly so I finally hooked it up this past weekend. It was fine all week, I mowed today and was setting sprinklers and timers. I sat down on my patio. A little while later I heard water rushing. I walked over and the female end that attaches to the faucet had come apart from the filter and water was blowing out of my faucet. This is especially important because I have a basement. Lucky I caught it prior to it flooding my base.
