I really like what Apple has done here. I paid £149 for these with noise cancelling, which made a bigger difference than I expected. The unboxing is your usual Apple quality, although oddly it doesn’t have a cable. Just documentation alongside the miniature case. I can’t get over how small they are, it fits very well into my pocket and almost disappears. When you open the lid and bring it near an iPhone, it does a little pong sound with a white light. Once connected, it does a reassuring ping sound, accompanied by the green light. The fit is very nice here. There’s no silicone ear tip to speak of, immediately making for a better experience comfort-wise. My ears are differently shaped, and with the Pro 3s they kept wanting to fall out and hurt the inside of my ear a little. But these stay locked into my ears, no matter my facial expression or movement. It’s so impressive! Now onto sound quality. They’re great. Easily a sound that many people will like. The treble is a noticeable increase compared to the Pro 3s, but they made it sound pleasant. In the newest iOS 27 update, there’s also a three band equaliser to adjust to your taste. The bass is definitely present and goes all the way down to 30Hz extension! Without a seal, this is incredible. Noise cancelling worked very well for sounds like fans and the odd chatter, though testing it outside in the real world it doesn’t like any sort of transport. The bass budget of the driver is spent trying to cancel the low rumble of the engine, leading to none left for your music. It’s still great for what it does without an ear tip. Please also note that the pressure ANC feeling is much more noticeable, I had to yawn a lot more often to ‘pop’ my ears back to normal pressure. Of course it plays great with Apple devices. I have an iPhone and a Mac myself, and it switches seamlessly. Find My was also very useful, especially having the speaker on the case. Also note that it doesn’t have precision finding the same way that the Pro 3s do, since the ultra wideband chip is absent here. Battery life was also good enough for me, I managed to drain them down to around 20% after about five hours or so in Transparency mode. That was one of the reasons I bought it, as the transparency is top notch. I also added another photo which compares the case size to the pro 3s. Overall I really rate these. It’s worth it if you don’t like the in ear feel of silicone buds, but want something that actually sounds decent with great bass.

The earbuds sit at a different angle now, making them a bit harder to grip with nails, even though mine aren’t long, but it’s more of an adjustment than a problem. The sound is noticeably better, though the new audio profile gave me a headache at first, and the adaptive noise cancellation is ideal for office work because it blocks background noise while still letting me hear if someone starts speaking. The earbuds themselves are larger than my old pair but still comfortable, and I’m relieved they’ve made a version without silicone tips since those never stay in my ears. Overall, they’re a solid set of earphones with clear sound, useful features, and a fair price — and I’m hoping they last just as long as my old pair.

I’ve had mine now for a couple of weeks and use them on commutes, work calls and everyday use. WHAT'S GREAT They feel like the earbuds, Apple has been trying to perfect for years. They slip in easily and stay comfortable for long listening sessions without feeling like tiny pegs hammering into my ears. The overall sound is pleasantly full with a decent warm bass that makes music and podcasts sound lively rather than thin. The active noise cancellation is surprisingly good for open fit buds and it knocks out street rumble and background chatter enough that you can focus on what you are listening to without blasting the volume. Pairing with my iPhone was instant every time and switching between my phone and laptop just works without fiddling. They also work with my sons Samsung phone. The wireless charging case is small and easy to carry and the "Find My" speaker on the case has already saved me from tearing the house apart looking for them. WHAT'S NOT SO GREAT Comfort is personal so this will vary but if I turn my head quickly or go for a brisk walk I sometimes feel like one earbud might loosen slightly. It never actually falls out but it is not as locked in as models with silicone tips. The noise cancellation does not turn the world completely silent. Voices and sharp sounds still come through so do not expect total isolation. Battery life with noise cancellation on is good but not class, so not ideal if you plan to listen all day. There are also no on ear volume controls which feels like a strange omission. In very quiet rooms I sometimes notice a faint hiss when noise cancellation is on and nothing is playing which is subtle but noticeable once you hear it. OVERALL THOUGHTS These are not perfect and they are not trying to be. They do not isolate like deep in ear models or over ear and they are not built for intense workouts. But for everyday use they are extremely easy to live with and quietly impressive. Most of the time I forget I am wearing them and that is probably the biggest compliment I can give. Pros Comfortable for long listening sessions. Good balanced sound with solid bass. Noise cancellation works better than expected for open fit earbuds. Seamless connection with Apple devices. Compact wireless charging case with "Find My" support. Cons Noise cancellation does not block all voices. Fit may feel slightly loose for some people. No built in volume controls. If you are already in the Apple ecosystem and want earbuds that feel effortless and modern without fully sealing your ears these are a very solid choice. I've been using AirPods for years, from earlier AirPods generations through to newer models, and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation are easily my favourite open-ear AirPods so far. I regularly wear them for several hours at work, during walks, and while travelling, and I rarely feel any ear fatigue. The sound quality is excellent for an open-ear design. Love them, great sound quality and comfortable in the ear. I don't use them super often for long periods of time so I can't comment much on the battery life but I can use them for a few hours without needing to recharge them immediately. Sometimes they come a bit loose in my ear, but that might just be me. Also it's worth the extra money for ANC, trust me.

Schon beim ersten Auspacken merkt man die hochwertige Verarbeitung. Besonders begeistert bin ich vom kompakten Case. Es ist unglaublich klein und leicht, sodass es wirklich problemlos in jede Hosentasche passt. Gerade unterwegs ist das super praktisch, weil das Case kaum Platz wegnimmt und trotzdem einen hochwertigen Eindruck macht. Auch das magnetische Schließen fühlt sich sehr angenehm und stabil an. Die Soundqualität hat mich ebenfalls überrascht. Die Musik klingt sehr klar und ausgewogen, Stimmen sind deutlich verständlich und die Bässe wirken kräftig, ohne zu übertreiben. Die Verbindung mit Apple-Geräten funktioniert natürlich wie gewohnt schnell und problemlos. Die Akkulaufzeit reicht bei mir locker durch den Tag und durch das kompakte Ladecase kann man die AirPods zwischendurch schnell wieder aufladen. Insgesamt bekommt man hier ein sehr rundes Gesamtpaket aus starkem Sound, hervorragendem Noise Cancelling, hohem Komfort und einem extrem praktischen kleinen Case. Für mich definitiv eine der besten Anschaffungen in letzter Zeit. Eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

Très bons écouteurs ! Le son est vraiment de bonne qualité et la réduction de bruit fonctionne très bien, surtout dans les transports ou dans les endroits bruyants.
