Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells
Bam! The flour spills on the floor. This is what Max does in Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells. Read this book to find out how Ruby reacts when he spills everything, and how Max reacts when he spills the ingredients.I like how Max wanted his red hot marshmallow squirters for his earthworm cake with caterpillar icing. Ruby did not want Max to spill any more things so she could finish her cake without having to send Max to the grocer again. While he was walking to the grocer he wrote red hot marshmallow squirters on the list in his best handwriting. Then finally he got his squirters, and he and Ruby finished their cake. When they got to grandma’s house, grandma was so thrilled that she did not know which cake to eat first.I liked how the illustrator made such good pictures, and I really liked that the illustrator had so much detail in all the pictures that she made. For example, I like the picture of Max tipping over the jar of flour.I also liked the ending because Grandma didn’t say Max’s cake was gross at all, but I wouldn’t want to eat it.Go out and buy this book.

A favorite
My grandson loves all the Max and Ruby books but this is his current favorite. His original copy was damaged so we had to order a replacement asap. I personally enjoy that Grandma always is favorably featured in these books.

Ruby and Max - a dynamic duo
My daughter loved Ruby and Max. Now I have a 3 year old granddaughter and a 7 month old grandson - a true Ruby and Max pair. We started Evie on Rosemary Wells books right away - and her baby brother is a new, huge fan. So grateful for these lovely, gentle, silly books.

An adorable story from Rosemary Wells
Several years ago I worked in the children's section of a large chain bookstore, and I used to have to do children's storytime at 10 every morning. Without a doubt, the books I chose to read to the kids most often were Rosemary Wells's Bunny Cakes and Bunny Money. These books are funny and enjoyable for kids of all ages. As an adult, I too enjoy the cute stories and the adorable and colourful illustrations--Wells does an amazing job with the bunnies' facial expressions.Bunny Cakes is my very favourite Rosemary Wells book--Max's persistence in trying to acquire some Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters is just so cute. I read this book now to my two year old, and he loves it. He loves to see the two cakes at the end of the book and compare them--Ruby's raspberry fluff frosting cake and Max's earthworm cake with caterpillar icing.I highly recommend the Max and Ruby books to anyone who is looking for a cute and funny story that will be enjoyed by children aged 2-6.

A great Max and Ruby story
Thesis a cute story where Max gets into a bit of trouble, but not on purpose. He is trying to help Ruby make a cake for Grandma's birthday but keeps accidentally knocking ingredients over, so Ruby has to send him to the store for more milk, eggs, flour etc. each time he goes to the store, Max tries to add his favorite candies to the list, but the grocer can't read Max's "writing.". Ruby eventually gets fed up with the mess and bans Max from the kitchen by drawing a picture of Max with cross through it. Is gives Max the idea to draw a picture of the candies for the grocer, who eventually figures it out. A nice story that is fun for the child and the parent to read. If you are looking for a good intro to the characters and the series, this is a great choice.
