Not a bad device for out-of-band serial access
I needed a way to access some devices via their serial ports, but only for an emergency when the usual access (via IP) is not working... e.g. because the device crashed, or you just want to watch the console during an upgrade etc. This works quite well. It's got a decent web interface for accessing it, and the way you can map the ports is fine. I dock one star for two reasons: 1) it would be nice if you didn't have to telnet. But because I do it over a VPN, it's fine. But ideally it could do SSH (maybe it does and I couldn't figure it out... always a possibility). And 2) if you really want to use it for an out-of-band device, then you might want a public IP on the ethernet connection. But I'm too scared to do that since it has no security features at all. Even a simple ACL would be nice so it could be thoroughly locked down. But if you have no need for out-of-band and will always use it on a private network for serial access, then this is a good fit and you'll find it pretty easy to use with great compatibility. Hope that helps!
