NOVUS 7030 | Fine Scratch Remover #2 | 8 Ounce Bottle

I am always looking for a better way to polish CDs and I have found it. This product works exactly as advertised. It is so good I can't believe it. I purchased both the fine and deep scratch removers and could not be happier. I used to take 15 minutes to polish a CD with fine scratches. Now it takes 1-2 to remove deep scratches and 1-2 to remove fine scratches and finish. I don't particularly care for the polish as it is liquid and I prefer a paste/gel, but it certainly is a high-grade polish.

I've used a few drops of this stuff to resurrect many a DVD or BluRay disk. It's quick and easy to buff up and the disk ends up looking brand new and error free.

The Novus 7030 Fine Scratch Remover #2 is a reliable go-to for polishing out light surface scratches on plastics and acrylics. I used it on a motorcycle windshield and a few old gaming console covers, and it noticeably improved clarity and reduced visible wear. The formula is easy to apply and buffs out cleanly without leaving residue. The 2-pack of 8-ounce bottles is generous and should last a long time, even with frequent use. My only minor gripe is that deeper scratches require multiple applications and still may not fully disappear—but that’s expected for a fine-grade polish. Overall, it’s a solid product that delivers on its promise.

I've been using this stuff for 20 years for restoration of vintage parts and antiques. Hard plastics, Lexan, plexi-glass, etc. will scratch, dull, yellow, weathered for the elements and sun, and cloud over the years. Plastic looks old, abused, worn out and ugly, and many times the item it covers or is an accessory for may still be in great shape. It ruins the total appearance. Novus can completely restore to a new look. If you want to do it right, you'll need to have all three cleaners. Always start with Novus #1, proceed to #2, them #3, ONLY if the first doesn't give your the best desired results. The reason is that there is a slight increase of the content of compound with each step. Even so if your plastic is scratched badly enough to need #3, it will still come out looking nearly new and all but gouged scratches will be removed and yellowing will virtually disappear, there will just be a very slight decrease in clarity at each increase of product number... and it is SLIGHT, not nearly noticeable enough to offset the positive result... but for the best, crystal clear clarity, you are much better off staring with #1 and working up if necessary. I find #2 to be the most needed and most practical for most situations. #3 is needed when damage from scratching and yellowing is severe... ...you will probably be too stunned by the result to notice a very slight loss of clarity. #3 is for heaviest damage... and if truly heavy enough, you will need more than one application and plenty of elbow grease... but, the result is still so good with #3, you will be trading years of abuse, heavy scratching, scouring, yellowing, and aging.. ...for a smooth, clear result with just a very small bit of a haze... a truly unusable, abused, scratched up, ugly mess, restored to an overall new looking item. From old car / truck headlight covers.... to old record turntable covers that were scratched, weathered, and yellowed from age or tobacco... and all hard plastic parts in general... I've been in the restoration business for over 40 years.... you can try other cleaners and compounds, nothing gets the results that Novus provides...nothing.

I had bought this for my mother to use on her glasses. Money's tight right now, so buying new glasses isn't an option atm. It's a good thing she tested it on an old pair she had because it ate the indoor/outdoor transitioning film off of them (hense the "spotty-ness" in the pictures). It didn't even START to try to take the fine scratches out, despite following the directions to the T. We even tried letting the scratch remover set on the lens for a small amount of time, to see if it would enhance the scratch removing effect.... it didn't. But overall, if you have glasses, I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on this product, but if u still wanna give it a try, PLEASE TEST IT ON ANOTHER SET OF GALSSES FIRST! When my golf cart top and windshield were removed so I could paint the body. The plexiglass was scratched and one area looked like I got a top coat on the windshield. I used a scrubby on that area that made it worse. Now it looks foggy. I bought this to fix my problem areas. at some angles it looks better others no real change. I applied 5 application let it dry then buffed it in. Both sides still looks foggy. The area with the one long scratch is gone from most angles but the other looks no different.

Great polish for fine scratches. I have used it on headlight covers (typically poly-carbonate), ABS, Clear PVC and it has done well on all of them. The depth of your scratches is what determines how course a polish you use. I start with a finer polish and if it doesn’t do the job then use a courser polish. Novus has a number 3 (courser polish). You always have to use the finer polish after the courser polish so you have to use the 2 polish again, but it is an easier means of telling which will work. I would be hesitant to use this on a touch screen as there can be invisible circuitry (indium tin oxide) very close to the surface and what the material is. Unless you know and understand the tech then usually best not to mess with it. Heating trinitrotoluene on the stove would be bad if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s TNT. It does seem to leave some coating on the surface but it is NOT like many of the ‘wipe on fill type’ product to improve clarity that don’t last.. If you don’t have to rub it (or shake the bottle) then it isn’t really a polish. And while it might take a bit longer than the chemical melting wipe on type, you have much more control and less chance of messing up the surface. At worst (unless you go too fast and melt the plastic) you will end up with a clear depression in the material. I would like it to last a little longer before drying but in the hot Texas sun everything probably drys faster. After talking with the manufacturer they say that water can be used to wet the surface as long as you don’t dilute the polishing compound. I am polishing the inside of cylinders so needed something round instead of disk. Long story short, I purchased a turntable a long while back and the owner didn't secure it in the packaging. While the turntable was still functional, many small parts were loose and scratched the acrylic surface. A very small amount of the NOVUS fine scratch #2 cleaned it up really nice. Did two passes and got very good results. For the final step I used MusicNomad MN130 as a polish and a wax and the results were just amazing. Could probably do one or two more passes but decided to leave good enough alone...was really worried I might make it worse but you can see the results before and after.

I don’t usually leave Amazon reviews but this stuff is absolutely amazing. Very easy to use, and it made the lid of my 40 year old turntable look like new. I wish I’d taken a photo before o started but at least you can see how good it is now. It removed decades of minor scratches and scuffs, and made the lid transparent again, after years of looking like a dirty window. Regular polish had never touched it. I will give you one tip though - don’t forget to do the inside too - makes even more difference. Definitely recommended.

I have a DVD that was severely scratched and would not play in any player. The DVD was scratched over 95% of the surface and just by being unknowingly played once by a Sony player which may have suffered a power surge, a well-known issue with players which damages the servo inside. It was supposed to be on a surge protector circuit. You only realize after you remove the DVD that it has been totally ruined and by then it is too late. It would not play in any player and in fact no player even recognized that there was even a DVD in the player. I decided to used this product and applied just a few drops of the NOVUS 2 and carefully polished the surface using the lint-free cloth by the same company. After 10 minutes of polishing continually, the surface looked almost like a mirror with very faint evidence of the previous scratch marks. The DVD then played flawlessly. I could have gone further but I realized that I am sanding off the surface plastic off the disc with what is a very fine liquid rubbing compound abrasive. I stopped polishing to allow for possible future polishing needs if it gets damaged again as I am now suspicious of all DVD players. It is great for CDs and DVDs (basically same materials). I do not know about Blu-ray as it has an optical coating which is harder to scratch but can be damaged by polishing and I believe the manufacturer warns against this. For this purpose it is a fantastic product especially if you have rare DVDs that are hard to replace. I have rubbing compound for automobile repair but it is too gritty.
